Right, who made God?
If your going to go with God always existed why the fuck not just say the hydrogen/other matter that caused the big bang always existed and go with that. Why believe in some shit theory written down in a few thousand year old book which has several points that have been proven false.

I mean, other to keep people from being afraid of death/after death what purpose does it have?

One big point you'll find in religions is the concept of an "uncreated creator", God.

Its pretty fucking obvious that Steve Jobs did. About a million-trillion years ago he released the IGOD. Boasting a father, creator and Holy king who can email, fax and causes to become.

Exactly, which makes the whole theory of religion and there being an omnipotent creator fucking pointless.

Why do people believe in god then?

It depends on how you perceive the ultimate background of the universe.

If you think that before the big-bang there was 'nothing' except hazardous materials (which would also have to be created at some point. ) then of course it would be hard to imagine.

However if you think that before the big bang there was 'nothing' but energy just drifting about in teh infinite depths of space/time, it opens up new possibilities.

It's also possible that 'God' was created as an unknown by-product of that massive release of energy.

You just don't understand how time works.

We interpret dimensions higher then our own as 'time'.

At the highest dimension, which is God, time does not exist.

So there is no before God, there has only ever been what is. And if there was no before, that means there was nothing there to create anything.

Which can only mean that all(God) is. No before, no after,

Which ties in nicely with his hebrew name of 'I AM' or'I AM WHO I WILL BE' (scholars can argue endlessly about what 'eyeh asher eyeh'actually means or if its even that).

Exactly what I was going to say.

This whole topic is pointless...EITHER WAY, God or no God, it's the same problem...

It's really a false dilemma. God is a supreme being. If He's a supreme being, then applying human rules and logic to Him makes no sense. Ostensibly, God can perform miracles, which shouldn't be able to happen. Ostensibly, God can travel places instantly/be everywhere at once. The list goes on and on. By very nature, God is someone who can do whatever the hell he wants. I'm sure God laughs everytime some human who is ridiculously restricted in his thinking asks, "Well then where did God come from?" We really can't understand the way God operates - it's just impossible for us to comprehend. It's the same way with anything that's supernatural because it's SUPERnatural, something that cannot happen according to what we think are the rules. So yeah, you can't apply natural constraints to a supernatural being.

Some people claim that God is omnipotent, but somewhat incompetent.

In truth, that does make some sense. He created humans, but messed up, tried to flood us with water while keeping a few species to re-create humanity (he was too lazy to recreate humans from scratch?), humans didn't behave as expected again, he sent Jesus to Earth, but failed again, big time. And his commandments.. "The first offspring of every womb belongs to me, including all the firstborn males of your livestock, whether from herd or flock." Or "Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God." What exactly does that have to do with anything?

Edit: More on this viewpoint here: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Limitations_of_Superpowers_as_Applies_to_God

In the Bible, God is portrayed to work within time.

That's if you believe the Bible.

But in the ideas of a monotheistic creator god, God would have to of made the universe at a given TIME.

Time for us. God very well may transcend time. Time does exist for Him, but it may not be linear or constraining. He may exist in any and all times at once.

To address your first question, the answer would be no one made God. I suppose one typical argument for God's existence would go that whatever exists requires reason for its existence. Nothing can come from nothing, so some necessary cause must have existed before the universe came into being to either create or act as a catalyst for its inception. Some would say that necessary force is the big bang, others God - whatever.

If God existed before all and was the cause (creator) of that existence, than his being is necessary. He is a necessary being. He cannot not be. Hence, God is eternal and always has and will be. There is no way to measure time for God because he would be totally self-sufficient. As an apologetic put it once, for God there is no past or future, only an undying universal present.

In other words, there must be a first cause that is the cause of everything else. The chain of cause and effect cannot go on forever. This initial cause must have always been because a necessary being requires no creator. As necessary, this cause/being is eternal and is not bound by the constraints of time.

To answer your second question, I don't think it's a shit theory. One has to admit its foundation in logic and reason. But you have a point to say why choose to believe it was God, I suppose. Why not accept the big bang or whatever else that does not rely on supernatural beings of necessity? I dunno. Some people prefer the former for whatever reason.

Time for us. God very well may transcend time. Time does exist for Him, but it may not be linear or constraining. He may exist in any and all times at once.

But the Bible literally describes how it all happened.

Plus, this would beg the question, who created existence?

Also, that would require God to think of time.

How could he think of time when he did not exist in it?

Besides, that would require God to create everything at a certain time - God not working in time would mean all his creations would be instant too - thus creating time instantly and the universe instantly...and we all know time exists in the universe.

No matter how you think of it, logic can not understand it.

God reminds me of the little kid who calls out "base" right before you tag him in the game of tag-nowhere near the base though. Then when you do tag him, he whines "no fair!!."

His concept is set up in such a way, that you cannot really claim he does not exist without a torrent of shit unleashed upon you. By shit I mean disclaiming statements.

I wonder if Sasquatch is god?

No matter how you think of it, logic can not understand it.

Exactly. That's all you need to know. It is SUPERnatural. Have you ever read Flatland? If you lived in 2 dimensions, how the hell could you ever think in terms of 3? Up? What? It would be totally incomprehensible. So you're chilling out with God or whatever, and He just disappears. Impossible! Illogical! If He was in 3 dimensions, going up would be nothing special for Him, but to someone living in 2, it would totally inexplicable.
