Default Reinvent Yourself

I hope no one or Homerunbrad views this as "tattling," but Reinvent Yourself appears to have been modless for at least the last month. As I was browsing the forum, I noticed there are still "clone" spam threads from the attacks that occurred around July 4.

I just thought I would bring it up, so the spam can be cleared out.

I have noticed this (though I have not POSTED in recent months), very unfortunate as I've always thought with the age range and type of user base we have, Reinvent Yourself has HUGE potential to be a great forum with plenty of good positive traffic.

If its NEEDED I would be willing to mod it temporarily, or just to take care the real PROBLEMS, as I am knowledgable in the subjects generally discussed there, but I'm not saying I'd be in a position to take the forum under my wing and devote a lot of time to it.

Social Junker I don't think you should be worried about people having a problem with you posting this thread. If they do, its their problem. If a forum needs a mod, then you should be praised for bringing it to the attention of the moderator community (and the admins in particular of course), not the opposite!

Social Junker has always been a good contributer and moderator.

I never really look in Reinvent Yourself, but people have mentioned that there's no moderator a few times.

Once again though, it's a matter of the service obviously not being in demand.

Well thats true, but a good mod can take a smaller forum and generate enough good conversation to make the forum grow to something greater.

Social Junker maybe you could do it? I firmly believe that if a mod makes a big effort to post good NEW threads, drums up a little interest in related forums (like Go Team! for example where athletics are often discussed), and just is a solid mod... that the forum will grow on its own. Just one really good thread that gets a lot of posts is enough to get people checking the forum again regularly.

Just seems to me like a forum that could be really great on totse.

K Hallenbeck is still around, still weightlifting and still fighting depression. He seems to be a goddamn tough motherfucker. Perhaps he and Social Junker could co-mod the place? If there was a need for new mods there, ofcourse.

I could mod there as well if it's needed, considering I've semi-regularly posted in that forum for a while, and considering Zok doesn't want to add new mods.

IIRC, homerunbrad was elected in an election, and Toothlessjoe was the runner-up by a couple of votes. Does he still post there?

He's made some good threads that got stickied.

ToothlessJoe does not know much at all about the content of RY. He just wants to be made a mod. His lose weight stuff basically boils down to eat right and exercise.

He really shouldn't be made a mod. If you de-mod homerunbrad and mod someone else, I would suggest Hung Like Christ, Parallax(who has been a mod on totse before), or HARDMAN. All three have good/great knowledge about weightlifting, exercise, and physiology.

Personally, I would single out HARDMAN.

But seriously, not Toothlessjoe. He just wanted to be made a mod of any forum, and RY was his best chance.

He doesn't even post there that much(though I'm sure he would if he knew it was going to need a new moderator).

Yeah, I know, but I'm always worried about offending people. I think I might have taijin kyofusho (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taijin_kyofusho), haha. Well, except that I'm white.

Social Junker has always been a good contributer and moderator.

Aw, shucks....same to you, Euda. :D

Social Junker maybe you could do it?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable moderating it. I don’t know a lot about the subject matter, and I can count on one hand how many times I’ve posted in that forum over the years. So I’m thinking it wouldn’t be a good choice. I can just hear the regulars now if I did: “WTF? How did Social Junker get to be mod? He’s never been around here!”

I did a search on Homerunbrad, and his last post was on July 10 or around there in W&C. So, he's still active, just not in his own forum. Maybe someone should drop him a line and ask what's going on before he's replaced? As far as I know, he's never posted in this forum.

That's pretty harsh!

Toothlessjoe isnt exactly going 'make me a mod I wanna be a mod! make me a mod! I wanna be a mod!' or any shit like that.

He's a good poster, and if he was given moderator powers he wouldnt suddenly flip out and turn into a power abusing dick. I beleive he'd look after his forum well and treat his posters with respect.

He could, but he was trying hard to be made mod of a forum he doesn't post in that often. It just annoys me when people do that. I'd feel the same way if cronic5 was being thrown around as a possibility for mod.

I think the other three people I mentioned are much better candidates and have actually displayed real knowledge about the subject matter of RY, not just started threads with vague advice which is all Toothlessjoe does.

He is a good poster most of the time, but he still shouldn't be made mod of RY.

Meh that's fair enough. You post there more than I do so you'd know better.
I'm just saying, *if* he became a mod, he wouldnt start getting a big head about it all and so on.

You could say that about a lot of people though, but that doesn't mean they'd be good mods for content driven forums.

When you take into account the fact that RY is information driven, Toothlessjoe would be a downright bad choice IMO, simply because he's not an active poster and he doesn't have a lot of knowledge on the subject.

He also begged a lot to be made mod the time that "election" was held, and it was kind of weird.

Allthough I know their modding styles would be very different. Not a criticism of either parties..

Does anyone know why K Hallenbeck was de-modded? Did he request it? Just curious.

Did either of you(yoyo or Mr. Happy) mention anything about Reinvent Yourself to Toothlessjoe? I only ask because I noticed him posting in there again, so I'm guessing he learned that there's a chance a new mod might be made there.

Edit: To add, I'm not asking to make a big deal out of this, I'm just wondering if this is why he's posting again in there after only having like ten posts in the forum since 2006.

I decided to mention that RY might be getting a new mod to him to test out your theory. Looks like it's been validated.

Could we let the regulars decide again, perhaps? Or at least hold some kind of poll as a guideline for picking a suitable mod?

I'm a little upset that you think I might nominate someone as a mod simply because they're a buddy. I know that's not how you meant it though.:)
I havent actually spoken to Joe for almost a year.

But he's a good poster.

I'll drop the toothlessjoe topic now.

There is a precedent for non-regular posters being modded (and as I don't a fuck about who mods RY this is just for informational purposes only). I was modded for My God depsite not being a regular poster there anymore. I used to be a reg and posted several well received threads but for political reasons stopped frequenting the forum. However LC still felt I'd be the best person for the job and she and I have exchanged maybe 5 emails over the years (all in regard to modding S&A), so no 'buddy factor' there.

The difference is you have exhibited actual knowledge about the subject matter of that forum, where as Toothlessjoe doesn't really have any knowledge about the subject matter of RY.

If you've read his posts you would know that he does post A LOT of good information in the forum.

What's your problem with that suggestion, other than you think he's a liar?

I'd be minded to believe the guy, and would think he'd make a great mod in there based on that and the things he's posted in the past. Modding him and somebody with a lot of knowledge about all the lifting/bodybuilding stuff discussed in there would cover all the bases, I'm sure napoleon could suggest somebody.

Although I don't post in RY, Hung Like Christ has posted a fair bit in Art and Design in the past and I always felt him to be a quality poster.

My 2 cents.

If you are going to call someone a liar then you really should say WHY you think so. Its a really terrible thing to be called a liar when the person gives no reasons especially.
