stock market
Who here owns stocks?
If so what companies do you have, how much money you investing, how long have you been doing it etc...
I'm just getting into it been doing it for like 6 months, I have like $1,100 invested in company's.
AAC - 1000 shares
ALT - 2000 shares
And tomorrow I'm throwing 800 into either ROFO, or BCON. There are a few select companies that I've been watching for like ever and so far I've been getting decent profit.

Re: stock market
uhh
You've got 1100 dollars invested? And own 3000 shares?
Penny stocks are not a good buisness to be in. Anyways, heres my current portfolio.
Stock / Shares / Price / Market Value
CAT 32 86.47 2,767.04
GOOG 2 555.00 1,110.00
HNR 100 12.50 1,250.00
MNST 75 41.50 3,112.50
SHLD 1 155.17 155.17
SUNW 200 5.29 1,058.00
I started about 6 months ago. I've made about 1500 so far. It was closer to 2000-2500 at one point, but it balanced out and I had a bad quarter. Oh well.
EDIT: While I'm posting, I might as well shamelessly plug Jim Cramer, who I take all my investing advice from. He's on CNBC every night at 6 and 11.

Fuck I wrote that wrong, what I meant to say is that I have a total of $1,100 to play with.
I bought sunw right when it took a big fall in April, I didn't think It would go anywhere so I got rid of it and pretty much broke even. Do you think it's going anywhere?

I bought it at 5.08 or something. It's been up to like 5.40 or something before it started taking a hit again. It doesnt seem like much, but percentage wise...it's pretty damn good. I seem to make that mistake too though, giving up on stocks too soon. I bought jones soda at 21, and I watched it drop -drastically- down to like 15 or so. Then I sold it and cut my losses. It's been up quite a bit since then.
EDIT: Btw, where in florida are you from? And why is that unfortunate?

Yeah, I do that often too. I could have made a killing if I just stuck with some companies... I'm too impatient though, I've learned from my mistakes though.
I'm semi involuntarily moved to the panhandle of Florida thanks to the military, I used to live cross country in California, so this is a big change.

Re: stock market
First step:
Go to google, click finance. If you don't already have a google account make one. Their stock tickers and research is good, easy to read and simple. You can see the history of a stock easily.
After you do this, if you don't already know basically how stocks work, how to read them, how to know if there is growth potential, if that area of the market is strong, etc LEARN THIS. That's easy to say "learn this" because a lot is invovled, but always DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON A COMPANY BEFORE INVESTING!!
My logical advice: don't just follow that Kramer guy like all idiots do. Personally I don't really like him and it is hard to trust someone that is on national news channels, as he is likely in conjunction with the companies he advises to buy.
WHAT YOU EVERYONE SHOULD DO:
INVEST IN TAKE-TWO-ENTERTAINMENT (TTWO)
They are the parent company of a few software companies. Namely, a little company called ROCKSTAR GAMES.
They are coming out with 6 new games, like uhhh THE NEW GTA 4 GAME. IF sales are HALF as good as they were for GTA: SA (the highest sold game in history, beating its competition, Halo 2) you can expect a jump in price from
10 - 20%.

Re: stock market
And oh yeah, DON'T INVEST IN PENNY STOCKS.
BUT
Add them to your fake google finance porfolio and see why. I added a few in my port. just to pretend I invested in them, they all lost value.
