That article, amongst many others, was in response to the suggestion that a persons criminal tendencies could be predetermined whilst they were still in the womb. Where you (will) live, family history, household income, parental education, etc... would all be thrown into a statistical melting pot, and out would come the probability of what type of crime you are most likely to engage in, and the risk of you actually commiting it.

Well, i'm going to start speculating, so if anyone wants to try and falsify anything i say - go ahead, i ain't gonna stop you.

Chances are, any aspect of human technology can be expected to have leapfrogged public knowledge a few times (perhaps many times, scarily enough).

So let's apply this speculation to nanotechnology - suppose the [insert shadowy unknown faction here] has somehow acquired this technology, and is slowly but surely mapping out every single thing we do in a way that conventional satelliete imagery cannot ever hope to acheive.
