Third paragraph for a long story short.

So I was playing some BF2 right, and my faggot friend decides to press the power button on my PC, which either puts it into hibernation or standby, I don't remember. So now after completing the process of either one, I press the power button again to take it out of standby/hibernation.

My computer's a piece of crap, so I figure it just added a bunch more stress to the pain in the ass that BF2 already is. Basically, it froze, and I just pulled the plug out.

So I started up the computer, and it boots up normally until the Windows XP login screen. It's just stuck at a blank, baby blue screen with the hourglass cursor.

I've also tried safe mode, same shit happens. wttfff

I really don't know what I'd input into it once I'd have the Recovery Console open.
And if you're suggesting I reformat or something, I'd rather not do something so drastic.

I would run Fixboot and Fixmbr.

Run CHKDSK /R also. This might take a few hours to run.

"This computer appears to have a non-standard or invalid master boot record.

FIXMBR may damage your partition table if you proceed.

This could cause all the partitions on the current hard disk to become inaccessible.

If you are not having problems accessing your drive, do not continue.

Are you sure you want to write a new MBR?"

I get that using fixmbr, I understand what it's saying, but should I really go through with it?

SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to run the fixmbr command in the Microsoft Windows 2000 recovery console, your computer system may display the following error message:
This computer appears to have a non-standard or invalid master boot record. FIXMBR may damage your partition tables if you proceed. RESOLUTION
Ignore the error message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article. The fixmbr command can safely rewrite the MBR.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

try booting up off a winternals live cd and repair your installation with the repair tool...that worked for me.
