any good for creating hydroiodic acid?

i remember that i've read somewhere that it has some kinds of polymers or something in it that cause it not to be a concern to the DEA for this use, but i just thought i would check here to confirm/disprove that.

Povi can be used but it needs an additional process in order to give up the I2, it's not just the same process as regular Iodine .. dont have the write-up to hand but seem to remember it requires a 'Coldfinger'.

ok, well i was just digging through some old camping supplies and found some iodine water purification tablets. they contain the active ingredient tetraglycine hydroperiodide...16.7%
it also says that each tablet contains 6.68% titratable iodine
