A difficult situation.
This is more affection than sex, but I figured this was the best forum to put it in.
I'm a hetrosexual male, and so is the other person in this story- There is no hint of romantic intrest, before anyone starts.
This guy has quite a lot of issues, and a lot of pain in his past so I can understand how he has ended up the way he has.
We met through a group of friends, and by circumstance ended up hanging out every now and again, he's a decent guy who's very honest and true, we have a lot of the same intrests, and he could be a really good friend.
The problem is, that he is *incredibly* Insecure, and far too needy- He will often ring me up, just to ask if we're good friends, or when we're talking he'll just ask whether or not I think he's a decent person, that kinda stuff.
Now usually in this sort of situation I'd just walk, but I found out that he's attempted suicide, recently and I'm pretty much his only friend, I feel like if I walk away, I could tip him over the edge and he could do it again.
So Totse, what do I do? I cannot be responsible for a life ending, but I just feel like if I keep this going on, it's just going to get worse and worse.

Re: A difficult situation.
You're only responsible for yourself.
If you devote your life to helping other people, you will never have time for yourself or be happy with anything you do.
If he's not strong enough for the world that he needs to call you up to make sure you're his friend every now and then, he needs help. I'm not saying let him die, but turf him onto a psychologist instead.

Re: A difficult situation.
Part of the problem is that he's not quite crazy enough to be locked up, but too crazy to not be locked up. Like I said, a difficult situation...

Re: A difficult situation.
Low self esteem sucks so very much. My suggestion, if you give a damn, is to motivate your friend to take from the world what is his, instead of getting screwed by it.
Maybe bring him closer into your own circle of friends.Ain't no sense in writing someone off if you could get him out into the world a little. Is your friend very isolated? Too sheltered, only child maybe?
If he is your friend, then it's your place to back him up, help him sack up, seize every day and make it his bitch, roger that?

Re: A difficult situation.
make him get counciling, and tell him you'll be there to help him out, also force him into counciling by telling him you're only doing it kuz you dont want him to be so fucked up.
