Say you lived in a house in which the upstairs area has been converted to an apartment. Also say that there is a door to said apartment in your garage, into which you have a bump key that fits. Finally, say that you believe this gentleman living in this apartment is a drug dealer and there is a good chance he has some neat things inside.

How could you get him out of his apartment for a good length of time so you could have a chance to have a look?

It'd have to be something specific to him. He probably wouldn't want to go outside for no reason. He'll leave at some point or another and watch for when he does. Don't keep the shit you stole in your house stash it somewhere else.

Well, I was thinking of something along the lines of a stink bomb.

At this point, I'm looking around the crawlspace to see if there are any access points or places where I can monitor his activity.

Stink bomb would probably not be the best idea because...well it just isn't. I'd suggest getting his number (the one he deals from), setting up a buy on the opposite side of town, and waiting for him to leave. Done deal.

That's a good idea, but I have no idea how I'd get his phone number without directly asking him.

Look in the 'Drug Dealers' section of the Yellow Pages?

OH, that, or (this probably wouldn't work) have a friend who's in on it chill in your neighborhood, and when your dealer-tenant leaves to go buy milk or something, he walks around looking like he needs some drugs. Then he walks up to the guy like, "Yo man you know where I can get some rock?" or some bullshit, and then get his number that way.

Be sure to tell your friend that you just want the number because you're too embarassed to ask him since he's your tenant and might tell your dad. This way he's not like, "I want to go into the guy's house too, or I'm telling him your idea!"

That's a good idea, however I have no idea when he leaves or where he goes. In fact, he just left a little while ago and I almost got caught trying to break into his front door when he came back.

Another idea I came up with was to find a way to sabotage his car. That way, it would break down when he's gone and it will give me plenty of time to rifle through his crap. What could I do that would give these results?
