weird
are we just upholding the status quo that led us to be outcasts in the first place? it seems like it, after reading over a lot of different posts. people cutting each other down with the same insults that i am sure were used to exclude them from real social venues. i am assuming that many members of the totse community are the outcast type. then why do these people pass on the disease? it would seem like they would want to band together and look for a different way of doing things. who knows, maybe this type of impersonal communication breeds indifference.

Re: weird
whatever silentmind. i seriously meant what i was saying, although i understand your perception of my language usage as being consistent with "bong smoke philosophy"
maybe the reason why some of these people communicate the way they do is because they feel safe behind their computer monitor and can dish out the same shit they get in real life, thus relieving some of their resentment at the real life way of socializing.

Re: weird
While I'm sure what you're saying applies to some here , it isn't universal.
I'm probably a bit nicer here than I am in real life, though.

Re: weird
I myself am not a "social outcast", I merely come to TOTSE.com to learn about the experiences of others and judge them based on the comments they make. It is a series of typed language that they use for us to peer into their problems. And if they make an ass out of themselves, you can be damn sure I'll be there to toss them back into the dark abyss they call their lives and with a quick witted comment to smack em' in the back of the head as they fall...
What I gathered from your post is that you would like to form a so called "Noob Force" and use TOTSE.com as a utopia to pass around starcraft tactics.

Re: weird
Does the phrase "assumes facts not in evidence" mean anything to you?
I'm sure it could be gutted and reworked as a broader question of human nature... but really, what makes you assume my toddler-fondling, OCD, ADD, molecularly-obsessed self isn't living it up, loved by all? Or, for that matter, the next person with all these attributes on &t?
Riiiight. Variable isolation, and assumes facts not in evidence. I'm sure it'll go well in humanities with a little cleanup, though, in sort of a "gandhian social analysis" disssection of human sociopolitical tendancies and self-promoting detrimental memes.
~shrug~ plur.

Yeah...I tend to be nicer here.
At least here my ears don't ring with the whining crap I hear when some chick wonders why her boyfriend dumped her once he found out she was cheating on him.
Here I can just say "Dumbass...Closed"
Why oh why can't there be a close command in real life conversations?!

I think that acting like a dick on Totse may be a learned defense mechanism that they picked up while being made fun of, excluded, and such.

Re: weird
I've never understood why this happens...
I'd say it's a pretty fair bet that it stems from some kind of insecurity. But not all insecure people are assholes.
Some people just feel that if they are being treated like crap by one group of people, they need to find a lower group to treat like crap so that they can feel better.
It's definitely not uncommon though, unfortunately.
I find it quite sad actually when I see someone who obviously has been picked on before, go and try to push around others who he perceives as even weaker than him.
And of course, an internet forum is the ultimate place to do that, as they are protected by their computer screen and have the freedom to say whatever they want.
If totse was a real life forum, I'm sure it would be A LOT different.

Re: weird
when i posted that thought, i didn't mean it universally. of course there are exceptions and probably most people on here are pretty decent. but there is a faction that seems to respond in shitty ways to people and their problems. you can also see it in the racist and sexist posts.
i dont play videogames by the way. i drink, by myself, in the dark. that and read books. i am fairly isolated, though i have a girlfriend and a few people i sometimes refer to as friends. but i was an outcast in middle school and in high school. i am now a senior in college, in a very open and understanding community, yet i still feel a lot of social anxiety from my earlier experiences.
