anyway i just saw a video where a guy microwaved a lit toothpick and it made lil pulses of plasma.

this got me thinking.

....as some of you alrdy kno, not the greatest thoughts have come from my mind

that what if you were to get the magnetron from a microwave, put it at the back end of some barrel that could contain the microwaves properly, and sustain the heat of plasma, add a fan behind the magnetron(with a vent to blow into the front of the magnetron) turn on the tron' , toss in various flaming devices, and watch the pretty colors??

of course the plasma would go maybe a few inches and disappear, and the microwaves could probably do more damage than the plasma itself, but it would look cool, somewhat intimidating, and you COULD say you had a plasma gun and have no problems aiming it at the whitehouse unless given one-hundred million dollars!

I lvoe it when people who have no idea about science try to understand it.

You'd need a LONG vacuum tube (for potential difference) and probably a cockroft-walton voltage multiplier to make a working device, and even then, you'd be able too singe at about 5cm and not much further.

You would, however, probably build yourself a pretty badass HERF gun in the process. It'd be capable of munging electronics at the very least temporarily, which could be useful for quite a few things.

Either way, this is sounding more like a DIY than a Bad Idea.

ok ty HMJ, all i know about plasma guns is that there not very probable because the plasma would become not-plasma unless contained in its own atmosphere or something

but yea, somehow i got bad idea when i thought about, taking a magnetron, a tube, a flaming stick, and aiming it at various objects...
