I think this sort of thing is best left as an unknown.

There's no need to inform people of this sort of system. It'll just lead to planned exploitation.

I cant imagine mods exploiting this, we're all very sensible people.

But.. the general public might indeed learn how to abuse this system.

I'm curious too. I guess this is another reason why it's nice to keep the mod forum seperate, 'cause the stuff regulars shouldnt know can still be discussed in adult fashion.

I've never reached the limit. I didn't even realize there was one. Then again, I don't give out a lot of rep...

I kind of like the mystery. It keeps people from fucking with the system. You can't manipulate and abuse what you don't understand. Reminds me of when people finally figured out that 53 (I think - maybe 58 or 63) posts would turn you from a member to a regular. Of course, that had very little bearing on anything else.

I didnt think there was a limit in a day of how much rep you could hand out - but more of a limit on how often you can give it to a certain poster - whether that be "how many reps do you have to give before you can rep the same person again" or "how many days/weeks do I have to wait before I can rep the same person again".

Unless of course I haven't given out so much rep that its said 'no more for now' sorta thing..

I give alot of rep out to people who post good stuff. It makes them happy and it encourages them to post even more good stuff.
Perhaps that's like handing out chocolate bars to make kids work harder in class, but it seems to work and it makes everyone involved feel all warm and glowy inside.

So yeah, it's a bit frustrating that there's a limit to how much rep you can give out. It'd be great if there was way to disable the limit for mods and supermods. I'm sure we wouldnt abuse it.

I have another Rep question and figured I might as well ask in this thread and not make a new one:

I've noticed that there are some people who I can't give Rep to as there is no icon for it. At first I thought it might mean they are banned or something. But today there was one - Duck Warrior. He has no Rep icon, at least not for me. He isn't banned either.

So, what could this mean/be?

That's quite odd. I have no idea why it would be that way. But you're right, he doesn't have a reputation icon, so it's not just you.

You said he's not the first person you've seen without one. About how many of them do you think you've come across so far? This is the first time I've seen it, though I don't really pay attention to the rep icons.

I went to check the member list, wondering if he was banned or something, but his account isn't listed...

That is weird, I don't think I remember him getting banned, although perhaps I'm mistaken.
