Default Can i afford my dream car?

Hello, i currently have 4k saved up and i am very anxious in purchasing my first car. the car i have in mind is in the price range of 13k - 14k but lets not forget taxes, insurance, gas, etc. Since im still in highschool and have parents to pay for most things, could i possibly afford this car through financing? my parents have good credit rating and has agreed to co-sign the financing. but since i barely use any of my money other than (going out w/ friends, clothes, etc) most of my paycheques can go directly to paying off car payments, gas, insurance.

I average at $800/month from my job but with my car i could get a warehouse job that pays $12/hr.

Serious input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It'd be alot smarter to save your money for the future and just get a nice cheap car.

OP, I brought a brand new Camry SE (fully loaded) for $26,650. Considering my credit history and income I was unable to qualify for Tier 1 credit and got a crappy APR. Still my monthly payment comes up to $480. Insurance is $55 a month. Registration is $250/year (around $21/month). Gas depends heavily on driving habits.... but let's say $100/month

Total: $655

Thus, with a $800/month income, I am very very positive that you can afford this 14K car. Especially with the 4,000 down-payment and your parent's co-signing. Just make sure, it is a good car and does not require costly repairs on a regular basis.

Dream car..... 14k? Someone here has no imagination.

The post should read- I'm in highschool and live with my parents, but I really want a Lamborghini. If I sell drugs and sleep with fat chicks, how long will it take me to be able to afford it?

But to answer your question, you can do it, yes, but you'll be broke. Esp since you'll have to buy gas. Drive your parents car, buy a sucktastic car, and save for college. Make your friends drive you. And I don't just mean for tuition, I mean spending money. You'll need it a fair bit more in college than now.
