I am looking to buy an AK-47 soon. I love the look of the gun, and have heard it is very dependable and reasonably prices.

I haven't checked out my local gun shops, what is the average price.

I'm not talking about stolen/illegal arms, because getting illegal arms is something I wouldn't want to have and prices are always changing. I want a legit firearm for my first gun.

I am looking at getting one with a full stock.

State law varies. It might not be legal in your state to own an AK clone. What calibre do you want it in? There is the traditional 7.62x39 or 5.45x39.

The cheapest AK clone goes for about US$300, they're called WASRs.

AIM surplus has one going for $290. And $320.

AKs are like coffee! You get a taste for certain countries.

I got a MAK 90 (chinese model) for little over 300$ total.

Yeah $250-300 is a fair price for semi-auto clones.

Real full-auto AK-47's will run over 10,000 to own legally, what with all post-'86 auto's being illegal.

But you probably just want a wasr-10 or something, so $250-300.

Around or slightly under 300 for a Romanian clone like the WASR, well over a grand for a Krebs or other American make. Bulgarians are also supposed to be exceptionally accurate, but the parts kits are expensive.

Low end to high end, it seems to generally run from Romanians, to Yugoslavians, to Chinese, to Bulgarians, to American like the SLRs and Krebs.



EDIT: I would love an AK74 while surplus ammo is cheap... 5.45X39 might not be good for anything, but its high on my "want to shoot" list.

i think the ak-47 is an ugly gun....it reminds me of terrorists and shit like that.....
