reality
doesn't it make you crazy sometimes?
for instance, i might just be sitting, watching television and i'll start to think "what if i just started living right this second and all my 'memories' were just planted."
what if the tv isn't real? what if i'm not real? if it was, how would i be able to distinguish fake from real, if there even is such a thing.
these kinds of questions run through my mind all day, and i think it's turning me a little crazy
anyways i'd just like to hear your thoughts on reality. maybe you can clear things up or make it more confusing for me

Re: reality
Oh god please dont go all nihilistic on your senses!
To me, truth is something I can validate with my senses, that is empirical and consistant.
And of coarse you know everything is composed of matter thats transfered by energy, and theres not some alien planting your memories as we speak ect, ect.
All this radical skeptist bullshit, in my opinion, is simply assaulting to your rationality and mental processing, its just best off ignored, or like you've experienced, will drive you nuts!

Re: reality
You sound like someone with high perceptual abilities like me. This is generally how it can make you feel. It makes you question reality more rather then just excepting it.
People with good perceptual abilities are usually occipital lobe dominant if you like neuroscience.

Re: reality
I think you have to realize that it doesn't matter if your tv is real or even you are, because there is nothing you can do about it. Either way, you're getting to experience and that is something wonderful. Just think about dreams, they're great and there's no reason to want to escape, unless it becomes a nightmare. Unfortunately, you can only escape life through death. If you want to go that far to test if this is 'ultimate reality', I would advise that the risk:reward ratio is very low!!

Re: reality
In the beginning, Chaos, the gapng void of the universe, Then, sprung forth was Gaea, mother earth. From Gaea came Uranus, father heaven, Tartarus, the underworld, and Eros, divinity of life. Gaea and Uranus brought forth titans, cyclops, giants, and hecatonchiers. One titan named Cronus, had a son named Zeus. During Zeus's battle with his father, the blood of the giants was spilled on earth. From the blood and clay came Man.
Even that is more likely then your theory about reality.

Re: reality
Radical skepticism might seem tempting, but it is a pit that must be avoided if we're to make any real progress in philosophy. It seems to me that we must operate under the assumption that our senses are more-or-less reliable most of the time; the fact that we can't prove or disprove the assertion that they are not seems to indicate that the proposition is not even really worth considering.

There isn't, except as an idea.

Oh I have, it is a creativity chemical though, not something I can base epistemology off of. I just dont understand how I can consider my brain being re-wired for 7 hours something that I can call true, because it only lasts as long as the drug lasts.

why is it more likely?
also i don't neccesarily mean that an alien gave me my memories, but maybe that i only just started existing and that it only feels like i've been alive as long as i have.
that's only one on the crazy things i think up though. really there are an infinite amount of things that could really be going on, but it irritates me that i'll never know what's happening.
i've also thought about suicide, simply because i want to figure out what comes after death. i'll probably just live until i get old though.
