Default a question about HPV

Is there any way to contract HPV other than sexual intercourse? My room mate has is, and I was wondering if I could get it from the toilet or some other shit like that.

I've never heard of it coming from anything other than ... fucking, but the CDC sez:
"The types of HPV that infect the genital area are spread primarily through genital contact. Most HPV infections have no signs or symptoms; therefore, most infected persons are unaware they are infected, yet they can transmit the virus to a sex partner. Rarely, a pregnant woman can pass HPV to her baby during vaginal delivery"

How did this come up, anyway?

Well, without going into details....as of a day or two ago I am now very interested in learning about HPV....I don't want to talk about it.

lol, you come here and ask us to help you with a problem, and neglect to give us details. You aren't worthy of our help if you're going to be an ignorant child.

Sounds like someone almost got to tap their hot new roommate, only to discover some nasty little warts. Awkward moment, much?

Isn't it something like 70% of people have HPV, and you only really have to care if you're a chick because it increases risk of cervical cancer?

Glad to me an uninformed male.

Yeah, that's what I heard too. Maybe Mojo has stats in her STI thread?

It's also good because only two strains of the virus cause warts, are there's like 30 strains. While every woman may be sitting on top of a gold mine, it's good to be male.

Man, I was drunk as fuck when I made that post. You can't tell, can you?

From that same site ( http://www.cdc.gov/std/HPV/STDFact-HPV.htm ):

At least 50 percent of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. By age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection.

Most people who become infected with HPV will not have any symptoms and will clear the infection on their own.

So... yeah, you might have HPV. But, on the other hand, if you've had sex already, you might have had it anyway.

And if you don't have it now, you probably will, eventually.

You might never experience any symptoms anyway.

That's life, that's what all the people say...

In your case, "passing out drinking" is a major transmission vector which may have already happened to you...

That's because you read the post that someone here made based on a post that someone else made that semi-accurately related throat cancer to deepthroating via HPV.

Deepthroating does not give you HPV in situations where sex wouldn't.
