No offence, but I doubt it - for one thing, why did you come to Backyard Ballistics if you were after matches for a hiking trip? Maybe some hiking forum or Travellers Travails might have been better?

Also you can very easily buy waterproof matches, and theres no reason why you can't waterproof (using the wax method) strike on the box type.

Lastly there's no reason why you can't use strike on the box matches, or a cheap bic - in both cases if you lose the box containing the matches you're fucked. At worst you may have to place the box inside a ziploc bag.

Try looking at camping stores, if that is what you really want them for.
