Re: Copper for cash
is it yours? or are you stealing it? cause i know over here in spokane Wa lowlife druggies somtimes steal it and sell it but now they have some restrictions so you should factor this in depending on your local recycler/whoever your selling too.

Re: Copper for cash
i dont remember were i read this but is'nt the amount of copper in a penny worth more then
1 cent if so you could chip the penny on a grinder so the zinc shows then leave it in vineger and the zinc should disolve then you could melt the pennys and make profit

Re: Copper for cash
yea you can make good money with copper and other metals. You can also get in a lot of trouble unless you are actually NOT stealing the shit from construction sites waste, cuz believe me they were prolly gonna do the same thing and report that shit so the knowledge of it being stolen goes right to the local recylcers.
I would suggest gettin a real job.

Re: Copper for cash
I do this all the time, its kinda become a hobby of mine.
Right now I collect copper and brass. If I had a truck I would grab steel too.
Just look around plenty of stuff to grab.
Also a big help is to carry around a magnet it wont stick to copper or brass incase you cant tell what it is.

Re: Copper for cash
Well sometimes they will ask for your ID, and if it is stolen, well you catch the drift.
If you have your own copper wiring, copper pipes etc, you can get ALOT of money for it.
The things I said apply to everything, such as kegs

Re: Copper for cash
I was reading an article on Copper and it's likes. Seems like ATT and Verizon reported losses in the millions due to copper wire being stolen from their installations. They claimed copper is hot, because it is harder to trace. Also, 24,000 manhole covers were stolen in 2006 for their metal in China alone!. Pretty darn crazy I say.
Most recycling yards are increasingly asking for IDs, but if you can be a bit professional about your selling tactics... $3.25/pound of copper is very attainable. Also, I DO NOT CONDONE STEALING, BUT if you want to make serious money.... try to get your hands on catalytic converters and stuff. The Palladium, Rhodium, and Platinum in them is worth $150 scrap... while a manhole will get you $20 at most. So work smart, not hard!

Re: Copper for cash
At my dads work they have a FUCK load of old electrical cables. You can sell it to the scrap yard like that but it's not worth as much. So they made a machine with a little blade on it that they can move up and down. They feed the cable through this and it strips off all the plastic. This makes it pure copper and worth a lot more. You can burn the plastic off but it makes the copper all black and shit.

Hey thanks, I was trying to find a decent source for some of those metals for use in chemistry, and was having a hard time. That makes it MUCH easier. Thank you.
