Re: Your job, it's pay, and perks
Current Job: Furniture Fitter/Drivers Mate
Pay: £5.75/hour
Perks: Sometimes get paid to sit in a van for up to 5 hours a day. We travel up to 150 miles to some places. It's a 10 minute walk from my house, save a lot on petrol money. Work with a good set of lads.
There are a lot of downsides to it though. I'm thinking about changing.

Re: Your job, it's pay, and perks
Current job : Gas Marketer / Electricity Retailer.
Pay : Entirely based on commission. About $1000/week, though sometimes as low as $600, sometimes as high as $4000.
Perks : Meet a lot of people. Talk to people about random shit. Make a lot of money getting people to sign up. Start work around 3. Being able to work hard and make more, or not work hard and still make a decent income.

It's not really that like it sounds. I just didn't want to go into detail because I was in a rush.
In Ontario (and some other places), gas prices changed 4 times a year, and hydro twice a year. The prices fluctuate, going up and down, but on an upwards trend. The company I work for offers to set a rate for 4 or 5 years, at a small premium. So...
Embridge (gas company) customers are currently paying 33.8 cents per cubic metre. Last winter they payed just over 44. We lock in at 39, so they technically overpay in the summer (when they don't use much) and underpay in the winter (when they use it to heat their homes).
I go around selling that. Great pay. $90 for every gas I lock in, and at least $36 for every hydro.

Re: Your job, it's pay, and perks
^^ Sounds great man. Even one customer a day will rock your boat. Also, what is the means of transportation? Do you use your own car and get reimbursed for the miles/gas, or does the company lend you it's car. What happens if a customer cancels the plan mid-way... does your commission get retracted or something?

I assume they sign a contract so they cant cancel it mid-way. And if theres some off-chance theres a problem, the company probably just sucks it up as a loss. Rarely will a company take that out of an employees pay, unless theres a trend of customers cancelling in the first few months.

Transportation is your crew coordinator driving you to the spot.
It IS a contract but they can cancel midway - at a high cancellation fee. They rarely cancel due to this. I've never had a cancellation, come to think of it. We get flow pay (pay for those who did not cancel) after six months, and I"ve never not gotten it.
