Loss of a buddy.
I just got a phone call from a medic buddy overseas. Seems a mutual friend of ours was killed in an IED incident. He was due to come home at the end of the month.

I may not be around much the next few days, have to talk to his family and see how they're holding up.
I'm due to rotate back in another year or two... I swear I catch anyone planting explosives I'm going to shoot them somewhere slow and painful and put a slice of bacon in their mouth.
I'm going to go now before I start ranting too much.

Terrible loss. I hope his family pulls through.
Rant all you want; you're more than entitled to.

Re: Loss of a buddy.
Thanks guys.
Turns out the chaplain talked to his family before the word got out, so they didn't find out from the news (it's happened before).
They're understandably not doing so well, but there's not a lot can be done right now. The only condolence, and it's pretty slight, is that given the damage done to the vehicle, he wouldn't have even known what hit him.
At least he didn't have a wife & kids.

Shitty situation. There was a 101st guy here who was blasted 36 hours before he was suppose to go home. Technically he shouldn't of even been out but his flight was pushed back so he went out on another mission. Shit sucks.

Sucks man, sorry to hear about it.
Whats the size of Canadian forces over there?
We only ever hear about Brit and American forces on our news.

Re: Loss of a buddy.
One of my best friends is over there right now. He was sent six months after he finished basic, was married one month before being shipped out. His family, his wife, our friends, and I are constantly worried about hearing any bad news.
I can only offer my condolences and best wishes during this time. Nobody wants bad news regarding a friend, it's just not right.
