Call me overly-cautious but...
I think we potentially have a bunch of morons willing to make 'revenge' spam against '4chan'
https://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2025339
^^ Check out that thread
Choice quote?
Quoted For The Motherfucking Truth.
We must unite against the 4chan communists and safeguard the forums against shitty memes!
I say we bomb Japan.
More atom bombs!
Yes. Likely an innocent post but if someone takes it seriously we could be in a little bit of trouble methinks.
Also B&M got a whole bunch of the 'angry' spam posts moved to it, and I think Money Money Money got it too with mods not aware it was junk and because they were legitimate threads when the original starters of them created them in the correct forums.
Not much that can be done about that though I don't think.

Re: Call me overly-cautious but...
I'm not really sure what we could do other than say "Please don't spam other message boards", maybe some of you could give us newer mods some tips.
Btw, isn't this how the big Rotten Eggs spam wave started last time?

Probably
Considering this is a new thread and people will be looking here anyhow
What's your take on off topic (to this thread) crap like this?
https://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2026447
I really thinkthere should be a grievance to the mods/admin infraction scheme - However I am backward in coming forward in saying it could be abused too easily by those wanting someone opposing their opinion gone. Rules would need to be set like only give them points for the following reason.
One reason should be following a mod around, posting off topic shit in attempts to disrupt regular healthy discussion

Re: Call me overly-cautious but...
I would think that it would be considered spam if the user kept on following a mod around posting stuff that is completely irrelevant to the thread(s).
That is just my opinion on that matter.

I agree but convincing some people of that is a hard task.
And as for Clean Tech it was clean of spam before I left, I think why it got that little extra bit of litter was because people moved the CT relevant looking clone threads there.

Re: Call me overly-cautious but...
Here's something else (perhaps rename this thread to something like 'Trousersnake points out what's wrong in the world...oh totse') :p
https://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2026510
^^ That person is trouble and he has had infractions reversed for some reason unknownst to me. That's not my issue, I have no idea whether it was justified or not - the issue I see is that he is gloating about getting let off and demonstrating a 'softly softly' approach some of us take. Wrong message to other abusers of the system methinks. Break the rules and get off light!
And that person should know that they got off easier then they probably should have, shut the hell up and been thankful. But hell we are dealing with a moron.
It's the same person I banned right? So this is the second time too. :(

Posting death threads like that (be it serious or not) should be dealt with by an infraction, at least thats how I would do it.

If I remember correctly "Omar Abd Al-Qaadi" is just another account by straight out the congo/aludin/alduin/rainbow dancer/aludin redux/aludin al-something/etc...
Although I may be mistaken, anyone feel free to correct me.

I moved some threads from SOTD this morning that looked legitimate to Clean Tech, Money Money Money and Bitch & Moan. Then I came here, asked a question about redirection, then read kaTe's thread about the spammers.
My bad.

Nah it's okay you weren't to know. In fact they were clones from those forums. One was even my own creation, another was one that's been in Green Planet for yonks so I knew of it.
Don't worry about it :)

In the past, the penalty for returning an attack has been a ban.

pffft yeah right. 'Members' can be anonymous. The penalty will be us cleaning up the shit here again after another attack.
Your little 'innocent until proven guilty' loyality shit would totally work against totse again.
Pinpointing the totse member/s doing it (where/when it happens) would be virtually impossible.
