Wave of misplaced posts?
Has anyone else noticed this? I was in suggestions box the other day and noticed about 3 or 4 misplaced threads. I noticed the exact same thing occurring in E*Nix today. I know one of the posters is the same one from SB, but it still seems kinda weird. There's no mention of anything about spam and the post seems entirely legitimate otherwise. Is this a bbs error? Are other people noticing this?
Seriously, look at this:

Re: Wave of misplaced posts?
Have a look at kAtE's thread below this one. It happened in pretty much every forum, people seem to think it was 4chan members doing it. It's not a bug, just five or six spammers. Since they looked like legitimate threads it took a while for us to realise what was going on, it's a pretty effective way of spamming.

Haven these guys been banned yet, most of them have over 13 + points but they're still posting threads.

Re: Wave of misplaced posts?
I don't mind moving the threads. Most of them actually look like they'd start good conversation. Moving them to the correct forum solves the problem, creates conversation, and tells the spammers that we don't care. Banning them tells them that we care and want to fight about it.
My two cents.

Most of those threads are just copies of OTHER threads that had already been made, moving them just means that they pile up in another mods' forum.
I had to close/delete the same 3 threads about 4 times each this morning, and that was only in AR&R and College Bond.

Re: Wave of misplaced posts?
All of the threads are clones of other threads, and they've posted the same threads in pretty much every forum (or had done, before they were deleted). There's no discussion value in 'em when they're everywhere.

Re: Wave of misplaced posts?
Yo Zok these guys are spot on. One of my own threads was doing the rounds as spam the "experimental bank account reaching $500" one if you saw it. I t's posted and locked (by me) in Money Money money.
Also if you're here is there anything that can be done about Mindh4x0rz doing shit like this? ...Besides ignoring the dipshit
https://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2025520
I would have infractioned him but some people here are touchy about that ;) I consider it spam. He is following me around everywhere posting stupid shit. And it's also in violation of the general rule of thumb not to be a cunt to site admin (mod...whatever.
I think he should go, I really do. And from memory MLoR said one of his other accounts was using that img script. He should be here get rid of him please.

I was wondering where that bank account thread came from.

Re: Wave of misplaced posts?
Yeah, I noticed this in BLTC, as well. I only came across one, so I moved it to SG. Sorry if it was a copy of another thread, but it looked legitimate to me. I also noticed a copy of a thread from Politics (started by napoleon_complex) in the Anime forum.
Clever little bastards. ;)

In such a case, you can infract the person via the user CP [Right click the user's name, select view user's public profile. And from there you'll 'Give User Infraction'. This will be logged as a Profile Infraction and not linked to any specific thread [So you really need to be sure to make note of why you're giving the infraction. In case you need to back up the infraction should the user go to a Super Mod or something].

Cool thanks. Gave an individual a few 'wake up' points in hopes it'll stop them in their tracks. Justified but no doubt I'll be hearing from someone about them.

You went into HB to insult and troll him. What do you expect?

I expect him to keep his shit to the shithole. I wonder how he'd like it if I gave him shit about his little problem he posted about in HeadShrinkers? Oh that's right that's a forum of yours you wouldn't allow it.
Oh and if he comes to you with a sob story about getting infracted it's none of your concern so you can leave it :) And aren't you glad now MLoR won't be too keen in reversing them for the poor fella?
Things work out great for those with a brain. Very nicely in fact.

That thread is an inside joke, but I'm glad you're sensitive to his needs.

These spammers are so stupid. Their vanity betrays them; they always include a phrase ("courtesy of ebaum's") that lets us know it's a copy.

Re: Wave of misplaced posts?
The problem with moving them is that many of the threads are the same, just posted in different forums. Moving them would result in several forums with multiple copies of the same thread, where they will end up being closed/deleted anyway.
