well i'm looking to purchase a switchblade but know little to nothing about knives so after searching around i realized i'm probably gonna get ripped off. could anyone recommend a place to purchase a side folding automatic "letter opener"?

Replies like that aren't going to inspire the regulars to give you the help you're asking for. I'm not going to put words into the mods' mouths, but they seem to like to keep this a civil forum.

I've found that often when a blanket question is asked, like "what gun should I buy?", the first question asked will be "what do you want to do with it?". This isn't challenging your need or your right to own one, it's an attempt to narrow down the thousands upon thousands of choices so that a few suitable to your needs may be suggested.

I'm not the expert, but I imagine the same holds true for knives.

A location would also be nice. We don't have a "sources" policy such as BLTC because we don't advocate breaking the law.

alright my bad, the reply just generally sounded pissy. anyways it would be used for self defense if need be, and im located in Indiana like it says up at the top.

A knife isn't always a great choice for self defense.

Switchblades serve no purpose other than being handy for people who would need a knife that is easy to open with one hand

Finally, automatic knifes are illegal to purchase and possess in Indiana unless you are in a profession (emergency services, active duty military, whatever else there is) that would allow you to have one. Also, you can probably get one if you have one arm/hand or the use of only one arm/hand. There may be some other disabilities that would qualify as well, I'm not sure.

yeah at the time it's not viable for me to own a handgun anymore so i'm pretty deadset on a switchblade. not too worried about the legality, i do worse shit on a day to day basis.

You know you could probably just get a ka-bar or something like that for $20-30 [postage not included].

If you do use it in self defence chances are your going to have to ditch it anyway if you don't want the law finding out.

Theres no point in buying something nice, unless your prepared to get rid of it.

You might want to get a collapsible baton instead of a knife.

1) It's less likely to kill, which is always good if you want to keep a low profile.
2) It's easier to use, just swing, unlike a knife which is relatively more difficult to use.
3) If you do get caught with it, a baton gets less hassle than owning a knife that is banned by name by law.

So basically you are 13 years old and are getting bullied? Let me ask you this: Are you prepared to go to jail for killing somebody with a knife?
