Firstly, let me say that I really didn't know which forum to post this under so mod's I apologize if this is the wrong one.

Anyway, let me give you some background information on the situation. Theres this place in my town known as the "boardwalk". Basically its a nature preserve with a little wooden pavillion where everyone goes to do drugs or sell them. Now the police are fully aware of this and want a way of cracking down on it. So what they've been doing is making a list of people that hang around the boardwalk. They claim they're doing this because of all the graffiti on the pavillion, but I doubt this and think its more of a list of "druggies". Now many of the stoners/hippies are even more pissed at the police.

Now, I just started reading a book on Abbie Hoffman and he talks alot about Be-Ins where people just go and hang out in a park and do w/e they feel like. I think this would be a great thing to do to show the cops that they're not going to push us out of the boardwalk.

So, any tips on organizing this with as little of police knowledge as possible and anything that would make it really bitchin' time, with a statement.

After extensive research on the phrase Be-in i still have no clue what that word means.

but it seems your trying to organize some kind of riot/public gathering so i would advertise free marijuana and booze,BBQ maybe.

You know what a sit-in is? Where they just sat down as protest? It's kind of like that, but instead of sitting they tell the cops that you can't stop them being there, so you have a Be-in.

Pick a day, make flyers, and let as many people know as possible. I would have a few people with video cameras there to record things in case the police get involved. That way if there are any cases of police brutality you have evidence and one (or 5) cops without jobs and off the streets.

Why? The cops are just doing their job. If you're pissed that they won't let you do your drugs then boo-hoo. Keep it more secretive, dumbasses. Don't bitch about cops doing their job.

Whats the big deal if cops have your name because you hang out down there? its not like they can harass you just for hanging out at a public place. But if you're intent on the "be-in" idea i like the previous idea of putting out flyers. hand them out and put them up at places where the kind of people you want there hang out. but you need some kind of incentive for people to hang out such as beer or bbq or music but then too you need to look into what kind of permits you'd need. if you're going to do it get organized don't do it half assed or it won't accomplish anything.

My question is, How are the cops getting peoples names?

Also he's right couldn't you just tell them to go fuck themselves being you're not doing anything wrong? Also if they're getting names of all people that are there because they think there's drug deals going down isn't that profiling?
