Growing Questions
Im thinking of starting to grow my own pot, and I have some questions.
1. When its ready to be harvested, can I just cut off the buds, and leave the rest of the plant to keep growing?
2. I live in Hawaii, its humid (currently 70-80%), warm but mild weather (65-85f, summer, winter, whatever), and pretty sunny (around 6am-7pm). Can I grow all year, or will it only flower at certain times in the year?
3. I want to grow near a swampy area. Will the soil be okay? How can I find out?

Re: Growing Questions
1) No, it can be done but only under idea circustances and even then most will just die off.
2) You plant in spring, the same time as most other vegetables. You will know when they're ready from looking at the color of the trichomes(sp?), typically 55-90 days after flowering begins depending on the strain. Plants will not begin to flower until the hours of day light are on the decrease.
3) Swamps probably arn't a good idea, if the roots are constantly wet with little or no oxygen in the soil they will get root rot and will die.

Re: Growing Questions
The swampy area is the best location security wise, if I put them in pots, then it will be okay, right? Thanks for the help everyone!

Find a plant that grows well in humid areas, buy seeds, grow it, go to hg420 and talk to 1000's of stoners who are expert growers on help, they will provide you with alot of information.
And no, you cannot cut off the buds, that possibly kill it, read up though dude, growing pot and actually getting some good yield from it is not easy, growing it is, but maximizing your bud yield isnt.

Do you even have experience with this matter? Potency is determined by STRAIN! growing location, soil and also strain determines how big the plants will grow. If you grew shit it was because A) you had shit seeds and B) they probably had no or very little direct sun light which is a must for big buds. But yeah you make a good point about the bugs, nearly everything seems to like munching MJ plants .

As long as the pots are not sitting in water and they can drain off excess water in the soil. Remember to get the biggest pots possible because if you want big plants you need a large root system. also if they're too small the plant will become root bound and wilt and die.
If you're only growing 10 or less i'd say use a good quality potting mix and add some slow release ferts and lime to the soil before planting. Be careful because if you put new seedlings into soil that has a fair bit of slow release ferts in it they can be burnt. I'd recommend starting them in small pots (about 4-5" round) with plain potting mix and transplanting them into bigger ones when they get to say node 4 or 5, which will probably take a month from the first breaking the soil.

Re: Growing Questions
As has been hinted at here, there is a dedicated grow thread in TGO.
