Default Lawn Care Business

I was thinking about starting a lawn care business with a friend. We would only be cutting and trimming the lawns though for about $30CDN a week each. What are some things I should do to go about starting this business and do you think it is a good idea for a summer job.

Sounds more like a good advertising plan. No one reads things on phone poles, but people are forced to look at things hung on their door. Those that don't want the service will through it away, and those that are interested will give it a call.

I just know that I wake up every morning and find plenty of fliers on my door. If you want to be a little bit more professional, I guess you could try the mailbox.

What do you mean try the mailbox? Wouldnt it cost money to mail it to them?

I actually run my own little lawn services business for the summer as well. I am not exactly licensed since this is only for the summer.

I found that the hardest part of this is getting customers. Right now I only get about 1 customer a week averaging $45 CAD per visit. So far I have only been posting ads on facebook and craigslist because they are free. My university actually has a broken copy machine that makes free copies...so I think I will try to take advantage of that. I am not going to put out flyers on each door because that is too much effort. I am just going to put flyers on the community mailboxes (we dont have individual mailboxes here...each street has one central mailbox for everyone).

You -put- it in the mailbox. You dont mail it. Instead of walking up to peoples doors, you just walk down the street and put a flier in each box.

And if putting fliers on peoples doors is too much effort, then maybe you should trade in your buisness for a box of twinkies.

It's not legal to put anything in a mailbox but US Mail, handled by the Postal Service.

Putting fliers in people's mailboxes is all good and fun until you put one in an anal bitche's box. The next thing you know, you're in court because of the federal offense no one cares about.
