LONDON — Police thwarted an apparent terror attack Friday near the famed Piccadilly Circus in the heart of London, defusing a bomb made of a lethal mix of gasoline, propane gas, and nails after an ambulance crew spotted smoke coming from a silver Mercedes outside a nightclub.

It was ladies' night Thursday, nicknamed "Sugar 'N Spice," at the massive Tiger Tiger nightclub, a three-story venue that at full capacity can pack in 1,770 people and stays open until 3 a.m.

This is what terrorists would do every day if they could. This is the difference between common criminals and random serial killers and terrorists.

Islamic Radicalism is eternally at war with everyone but other Islamic radicals. They can organize, get funding, get recruits, etc...They are a thinking enemy and this is why I have no qualms about the Patriot Act. Fighting terrorism with police as a criminal organization is like fighting the cold war with police.

The world would be a better place if Islam didn't exist. Christianity isn't perfect, but it is a more civilized religion that Islam.

This is still no justification for our surveillance society. All the phone and e-mail monitoring, internet monitoring and CCTV and the group went completely undiscovered until someone saw smoke pouring out of a car. It was the same with the last attack, the first thing the authorities new about it was when someone started spilling smoke and chipatti flour out of their backpack. Surveillance doesn't stop attacks, just tramples on the civil liberties of everyone else.

Don't forget that there are suicide bombers in Israel. The Jewish kind of bombers.

So not 99.9999% of all terrorist attacks are muslims.

Meh, it hasn't even been proved to be Islamists yet so don't jump to conclusions. As for Muslims being responsible for most terrorist attacks I would draw your attention to the IRA who were just as bad, except the Americans love the IRA as every American seems to have Irish heritage and so feel good when they fund cold-blooded murderers to continue their campaign of terror.

Also, the Oklahoma bombing wasn't Islamists either so your lovely statistic of 99.999% of terrorism being done by muslims is probably false.

If it is a retaliation bombing because of Salman Rushdie's knighthood then it is a shame, and obviously all terrorists deserve to be punished but you can hardly blame all muslims for the actions of a few. You might as well blame all americans for the Oklahoma bombing or for the war on Iraq.
