Extorting the individual stores of large corporations.
I've been thinking about extortion lately; how it's done, how much money there is to be made, et cetera. I've come up with an idea about how to obtain money from stores of large corporations like Wal-Mart, Sears, McDonalds and other retail and fast food companies that I'd like to run by you people to see what you think.
First off, you can't just demand the manager or the cashiers to just pay you a certain amount of money every week because the sales records are digital and if the store's income shows up short then the people involved will lose their jobs and the whole thing will fall apart.
That said, I theorize that if you force the manager to hire someone of your choosing, like a homeless man for example, who never shows up to work but is a hard working employee as far as the paperwork is concerned then you could just have your guy merely come into work every payday to pick up his check. This employee would get a percentage of the take for his trouble but you would keep the majority of the money.
I understand that the individuals wouldn't be making anything more than minimum wage but if you have maybe two of your guys set up per store and you do this with quite a few stores then the amount of money you're making a week really starts to add up.
Also, the people I have installed in these stores wouldn't know who I am, where I live or the names of anyone working for me. They would be given a prepaid cellular phone that I would contact them on which couldn't be traced back to me or anyone else around me and the money they would be giving to me would be left as dead-drops at random locations which change after each drop.
The enforcers I would hire to "persuade" the various people at the stores would work in small teams of two or three, be paid on a job-to-job basis and no team would know the others even exist, they wouldn't know who I am and they would be contacted the same way as the employees.
So, BI, any thoughts on this subject?

LOL what are you going to do come in to work one day with guns and tell the manager to hire a bum. what kind of "force" are you going to do that won't result in your manager calling the cops?

Put yourself is the managers position. Two guys come up to you in the morning while you're going to your car to drive to work. They tell you that if you don't do what they want they'll kill you and your family. After that, they also tell you that if you go to the police with about any of this they'll find out and have you and your loved ones killed. Now, with that said, what would you do? Go to the police knowing that you can't give them any information about those men that would put them in prison? What if they really do find out about it and are connected to a much larger organization? What if even if they are arrested their employer will follow through with the threat? Are you really going to put your life and the lives of your family in jeopardy? I know that I wouldn't.

Re: Extorting the individual stores of large corporations.
1 bum per store at 5 stores at minimum wage is like 6.50 an hour 6 hours a day 7 days a week plus some more math is 70200 bucks a year per bum times 5 is 351000 a year minus what you pay for bums and enforcers... do it

Re: Extorting the individual stores of large corporations.
1 i hope your bums have a government issued picture id for cashing the checks.
2 why would a bum(probably a drunk or crackhead) call you to give you the money when he could just as easily take it for himself.
edit: so really, the bums are the only problem here. If you could get a fake id and cash it yourself, then maybe this would work. But I still see you getting caught some day, because it's only a matter of time before someone finds out.
also, the mercenaries seem like a little overkill. why can't you just do it yourself and save a little bit of cash?

Well, let's see. There's taxes. That would take a pretty big chunk out of it.

The bum angle was only a "for instance", it doesn't have to be a homeless guy. I could just as easily find a stable individual who wants some extra money who I'd provide with an ID then have him collect my money for me. However, I'm not sure if the corporation would check the SS numbers to see if the ID is real or not, but even if they did I'm sure the individual managers would be the people in charge of that so I suppose it wouldn't be an issue.

Because my enforcers know who he is and could find him if I wanted them to. Also, they control the store and dictates whether or not he remains an employee. That said, I don't see a reason why he would turn down long-term profit for a single week's pay.

The reason why I won't do that is because if ever the police do get a tip about this then I want to be as far removed from the actual people physically committing the crime as possible. If the cops were to ever set up a sting then you can bet your ass that I won't be one of the people who gets arrested.

plus, the first response. that was hilarious.

Re: Extorting the individual stores of large corporations.
really doubt extortion would work.
unless you actually kidnapped the family, the manager would just call the cops.

Re: Extorting the individual stores of large corporations.
There are several problems in your plan. First of all, bums are flaky and can't be counted on. Having them in the picture is a bad idea. It'd be better to just pay them 50 bucks to come in give their info and never see them again. Just send someone in to pick up the checks. This also establishes regular contact which is good. It reminds people you are there and on top of things.
"Enforcers" can't just be paid on a case to case basis. They have to be loyal. If they get caught kicking the shit out of someone on tape and just flips on you you're fucked. The best way to insulate yourself is to have people managing them below you.
This whole thing wreaks. You largely are unnecessary and couldn't just come up with large amounts of muscle.
Try starting off easier. Take protection from weed dealers or something which, at least around me, is a unorganized market. Start off simple and work your way up. 3-4 people can develop some good sized cash flow if you take cash from people who won't resist as strongly.
