Re: best liquid for flamethrower?
go with methylated spirit
its alcohol based so it won't corrode your rubber seals

Re: best liquid for flamethrower?
Super soaker flamethrower --> Bad Idea. Do know that, especially with alcohol-based fuels and other things of high volatility, there is a great danger of blowback. This means fire going backwards towards the nozzle from the ignition source. Normally one would say that's ok due to the constant stream of fuel coming out, but think about this: you have a plastic nozzle. In that intense heat, it will melt quickly and allow fire to pass through and suddenly your fuel tank will be on fire. Several litres of burning methanol is NOT the thing you want on your arm and chest.

Re: best liquid for flamethrower?
true^^^, but i would modify the whole front end of the super soaker with metal nozzles and take away alot of the BS...and some other stuff, also, i saw a vid on youtube showing a super soaker flamethrower and the guy was proving how safe they actually are, he lit the plastic nozzle of his! and then started fireing, for a long ass time too, and he used GAS! it didnt blow or anything

Re: best liquid for flamethrower?
its probably not too good of an idea to use a plastic supersoaker for a flamethrower in the first place. if you want to make one, go for it, just use metal parts. theres a site online somewhere where a guy made a pretty nice flamethrower. however, the website eludes me at the moment. if anyone can remember the site, you should go there and check it out.

My point exactly. If you make it well, you'll be able to pressurize it much more than with a super soaker and as a result it will be able to shoot flame much further

Re: best liquid for flamethrower?
As long as there isn't oxygen, how can fire travel back into the chamber? Couldn't you just pressurize the chamber with CO2 or propane?
