Default Can someone please explain to me how savings bonds work

Okay, my school awarded me with a fifty dollar savings bond and I'm not positive exactly how it works. Something like, you put it in the bank and it slowly gains value over time? Is that it or is there more to it? Also, does it just keep increasing value, or will it stop at some point?

They have a time limit. Have you read it over carefully? Gone to the relavant .gov website to peruse bonds in that class/type?

They are a government ponzi scheme backed by the laws they write & the thugs that they can bring to bear. They keep pulling in the taxes, the way a regular ponzi scheme keeps pulling in new investors.

Because they appreciate in value. In this case, the school just paid $35 (or however much) to give a gift then in a decade or so will be worth $50. The problem with them is that they do not take into account inflation. But hell, if it was a gift, free money is free money.

Well? Perhaps you've been sucked into the hype that the good times will last forever...this time...

If they don't or they go on...but not for you? Then if you make bad investments in the stock market or real estate or a business? Then you have a small but guaranteed amount of money safe with the government.

You may notice people would rather live in some amount of a fantasy dream world...where their investments always pay off. Where they never lose? 'Cause it feels so good to think that way...

It's hard to dig through the BS. Are folks too 'Up'? Too down? How deep do you want to look?
