Default Cost of rear bumper and light

I backed into a wall and need a new rear bumper and taillight on a 2006 BMW 325i. Any guesses on the cost?

Throw the old one away and weld a piece of RSJ (steel I Beam) to the bumper Irons.
You'll never bend another bumper again..

I just returned from the body shop yesterday. Don't even ask. It is insane! $982 for a deep scratch on the driver's side door, and $390 for fixing a bump on the bumper. My deductible was waived, so everything is being paid by the insurance, but still the whole situation is ridiculous. It's almost fraud as far as I am concerned. Sigh!

The bumper price sounds reasonable, but the door is a rip off. Plastic bumpers can take alot of work and skill to fix, so they charge accordingly.

For a scratch down to bare metal several inches long shouldn't be over $300 or so.

They just feather the paint, primer it, spray it, then clear coat and maybe some buffing. Our body guys can do that in under an hour of work and a few hours for drying time.

I bet the cost got ran up because it was insurance. If you were to pay cash it would have been alot lower.

You don't wait 24 hours for your primer to cure properly? Shock!

Heated booth for the paint to set up and lots of heat lamps for the primer.

They usually let the primer dry for a few hours before rolling the car into the booth and their methods are approved by Dupont. With 150 cars a week going through our shop letting anything sit for 24 hours would be a log jam of unimaginable proportions.

Post Re: Cost of rear bumper and light

I recently had to get the same parts replaced on my 2006 mustang. (some fucking construction worker, that was working on the house next door hit it when it was parked in front of my house. in the same place i park it every day) anyways, long story short left a cute little note hat said "sorry i diddnt se your car", with his phone number. it's bright fucking red so how he diddnt se it is beyond me. i took it in for and estemate, and for a new rear bumper, taillight, and paint was like $1800... I'm sure a BMW will me more....
