| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Are ARGs included in this forum?
I just heard about alternate reality games recently, and I'd like to actually start participating in one. I've been looking around the unfiction forums, but it seems like a lot of the current games are coming close to an end. I was wondering if anyone here was currently in any they'd like to suggest.
I'm looking for something with a storyline more on the darker side, I guess you could say, and with more interaction with people. It'd be neat if it could actually get me out of my house and doing something, but at the same time I rather doubt there's anyone near me that would be playing.
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to put it. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: If you didn't get it from my post, ARG=Alternate Reality Game.

I imagine it would be like cosplay shit but with a storyline and they live the game out.
Maybe they could do an FPS for fat camp. Then the kids can just jump up and down.

Re: Are ARGs included in this forum?
Sure it belongs here. This is a gaming forum, not nescessarily only for computer games.
Allthough I've no idea what you're talking about. I assume it's a bit like larping?
Edit: The website helps. But it all sounds very confusing.
I also dont see what's at all 'game' like about exploring websites and phoning random people. :S

Anyone remember I Love Bees? That was an ARG. And, dare I say it, Neurocam seems a bit similar.
Also, sites like http://www.deathball.net/notpron/ are kind of related.

Latest Gameinformer article?
Alternate Reality Games, good form of marketing and just something fun to do. Yes, I love bees was the famous Halo 2 ARG, there's another one going for a NiN album right now. The newest ARG for Halo 3 is now in effect, or you can go join perplexcity.

Believe it or not, I am marginally literate. I still have no idea what an alternate reality game is.

I apologize, I meant nothing against you. I just thought maybe I wasn't clear enough so I posted some more info.

I got halfway through the paragraph about visiting three sites to find robomonkeys and gave up once and for all ever trying to understand whatever it is you're talking about. This thread is officially condemned, and i'll never wander in again.
