I really didn't know where this should go. If you hate using online sites to download youtube videos like me you can use this. I did this on my own but I'm sure it's been said many times before.

First find a video. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7_Plm-EP-0 )

Take out the "watch?" and the "=" adding a / where the "=" was....Now it's a nice full screen video.

It's going to change to....

Change the jp.swf to get_video and you shall be prompted to download the flv file.

That's pretty cool. I use the videodownloader firefox extension for downloading youtube videos. But this extension only works on a couple site. Maybe something like what you've suggested works on other places too.

That is cool. I could never be fucked with any of these programs people use to download off these sites. Nice one.

I prefer the All-In-One Video Bookmarklet -- it uses Javascript DOM to find the files instead of submitting every action to a remote server script:

Copy the link on that page as a new bookmark, then add it to your bookmarks toolbar in Firefox (not tested in IE, but probably works). Then, just click the bookmark when on a video on Youtube for example (works with many others), then you can download the files from the resulting page.
