Default Would you ever be friends with someone who treats the opposite sex badly?

I have a few friends who are what some women would call "bad boys" or players etc. They've wracked up huge amounts of notches on their bedposts, often seeing several women at a time and leading some on to believe they were actually going out with them just so they could have sex.

Now this isn't something I indulge in myself. I'm probably a little bit too caring to treat women as badly as that, but I have given up caring about what those guys do with girls. At first I was a bit disappointed in them and voiced a little bit of my concern, but over time I realized I couldn't care and whatever they do with women is their business, not mine. It doesn't affect me so I'm not bothered. They're still great friends to me despite their behaviour which is opposed to some of my morals.

Let me make it clear though that I'm not against having several women on the go, just as long as none of them are supposed to be an actual girlfriend who is completely oblivious to your actions behind her back. If a girl has sex with me, I'll usually keep in contact with her as well.. these guys will often ignore a girl after and call her up for sex whenever it suits them.

I have very little respect for anything. I hate the world, I hate life, I hate most people but one thing I do have respect for is a sweet woman. Now if they act like sluts, thats theyre problem but if they're one of those sweet types who just wants an honest committed relationship then you should take a stand. Even against a friend.
Its not right, man. Respect women. Later bro.

This thread isn't going anywhere fast. The OP didn't actually ask a question, apart from to himself so he could answer it. And the second post was a narcissist thinking he was unique.

Well, it was fun. *tips hat* Adios.

I'd feel embarassed to be with someone who randomly treated anyone, male of female, like shit, with no apparent reason.

Be nice, be polite, even if you secretly hate them. But feel free to laugh at them once they've gone.

ah yeah a real close friend of mine is that way, basically will fuck any girl who is remotely interested. doesnt really bother me too much, but i'm definitely not the same way.

i'm kinda seening this girl trying to take it slow and shit, i really like her. he seems to think its weird that i didnt really try to bang her on the 1st date, and i basically just laughed and shrugged my shoulders.

to each their own i guess, but i'm pretty sure i saw the start of a cold sore or something on his lip and i dont think i've ever seen him with one before! hope that kind of lifestyle doesnt come back to kick his ass!

I'm glad you're not influenced by your stupid friend to act like a prick and treat the girl like shit. I'm proud of you.:)

And in the long run, you're going to get better sex than him and more of it, simply because lots of girls really actually dont like assholes.

lol sometimes it's hard to believe though. i mean this guy is cool and smart and funny and all. he makes lots of money and drives a new ford mustang. not hard to see what these girls are interested in him. the thing is he doesnt really give a fuck about any of them, at least, as far as i can tell. stories about threesomes and getting your dick sucked by a couple different chicks in a night sounds great and all and i can get a laugh out of it, if nothing else... i just dont see myself ever doing anything like that.

i just try to be nice to the girls i meet, and especially nice to someone i might be getting 'involved' with, but to be honest i haven't had a lot of luck which could be due to the type of female i go for.

i DO, actually, have a date with this girl i'm seeing tonight so i just might let you know how it goes (sorry for the thread hijack)... i'm trying to think that good things come to those who wait, and not, nice guys finish last. it is sometimes hard to think that way, but i think if you stick to your own values and not be influenced by the way other people are acting, it will pay off in the long run. however, as far as being friends with someone who doesn't practice the same morals & lifestyle, i'm not going to stop hanging out with this friend of mine because of how he treats others. we're friends, so fuck it.

Yes.

A person's dealings with the opposite sex don't always demonstrate who they are as a person.

Conor, is the problem here simply the fact that your friends sometimes lead girls on too far in order to keep fucking them?

I thought we all did that... heh.

Up until recently, I was out for what I could get. If I fucked a girl after a night at the pub, I'm not going to ring her the next day to find out how she is. I'll maybe ring her a few weeks later when I'm bored and horny. And every so often you can tell a girl wants more than just sex, but you just want to keep bangin' her... well, sure it may not be good wholesome family activity, but they're getting sporadic companionship in exchange for you getting laid.

I've grown out of it, but I had a lot of good (and some bad) experiences. I wouldn't say I was treating girls like shit because of it though. Surely it's better than saying straight out that you were only wanting to fuck them so if they wanna kiss and cuddle they can fuck off.EEK!

Been some interesting mixed responses and I should have posed this more as a question.

I'm not going to state a stand against my friends, their business with women is their business. The friends in question treat women badly in the sense that they will cheat whilst supposed to be in a relationship. One friend even had double standards when he was sleeping around on some girl and whenever he found out she was sleeping around him he went nuts with her.

It's not something I'd do myself, but amongst men, it's seen as 'cool' to treat women like crap and play as many of them at one time as you can, just the way it is I guess. I wouldn't stop hanging out with a guy that did it, any more than I'd stop hanging out with a girl who I thought was a but whorish.
