Default The 'can these posters be perma-banned please?' thread.

I dont know how perma banning works, but I know its' something that supermods have to do? I think?

I think a thread that simply lists users to be immediately banned would be alot of help, but.. it's up to the supermods.

Could This (http://www.totse.com/community/member.php?u=224127) poster be banned please?
(skubb1)
The poster has had several accounts, the one before his latest I *think* I infracted up to a non permanent ban. But this guy is just going to keep coming back. (Amongst the latest infractions I accidentally infracted for posting private info and reversed it on the posters latest account.)

Thanks either way, supermods.

It's not the insults or the spelling, those make up over 75% of Totse.

It's the constant and insistant posting in the wrong forums, the constant spam, the constant multiple accounts.

It's everything I hate an abhore in a poster..

If you guys want Perma-bans, just email me (or Zok or AM, but I'm checking my email quite a bit throughout the day, and don't hesitate to ban). Be sure to just include the name, add the reason if you want, but that isn't as important, as I trust your judgment. Also, just for my personal records, can you include an IP?

Thanks.

And once again, my email address is rtfd1720@gmail.com

BTW, Yoko, I'm banning that user as soon as I hit "Submit Reply".

I saw this happen before my eyes...the crappy thread that was one push too many, the infraction which lead to the ban and then the new account and now the perma-ban.

If anyone reads this and knows how to get a suggestion noticed could it be asked that any new accounts not become active for a small period of time? Like 3 days after sign up or something - Even 24 hours could help out I think, newly banned people wouldn't be able to cause trouble straight away and it would inconvience a proper newbie much at all. The idea gets raised whenever a spam attack occurs but it's never come to exist.

Also if it's going to help out the Supermods and Admin I think mods should be able to view IPs again. I didn't realise that option had been lifted Confused

Awesome brilliant. Thankyou.

I'd give an IP but as pointed out we dont have that function till Jeff gives it back.

If you'd rather receive emails than read through a thread I'll close this soon.

I can. Nyah.

I think it depends on forum. I can only see them in my forum, and I think because I complained to Jeff about it.

I don't think we should ban users anymore for having more than one account, unless we ban ALL OF THEM that have more than one account. I have actually seem people in this very forum say things along the lines of "Well this user should be ignored because he doesn't cause trouble with his multiple accounts", or "This user should be given a pass because he's been doing it for so long".

I don't see ho skubb1 is any worse than any of the other user with multiple accounts. So until the issue is settled I think its VERY unfair to HIM to have him banned.

Not Half Baked, though. That's pretty bizarre.

I mean, I would imagine that the ability to view IP's would be a group (not user) permission setting, in which case all mods should be able to use the feature. But if (so far) only two mods can see them, and the rest of us can't, I guess it must be a user permission, which is strange to say the least.

That's nice.

Luckily you dont mod GPP.

I think that EVERY poster who uses multiple accounts for ban evasion should be banned. And trust me, if a troll or spammer with multiple accounts, regardless of who he is or who protects him, comes into my forums and causes shit, I shall not hesistate in infracting the fuck out of that poster and get them banned.

I heartily agree! But apparently some moderators here don't.

Seconded. (Thirded?) In my experience, people with multiple accounts are doing it to evade bans, spam, or cause trouble. Others fall into the category of people who had an account (with optional fictional post count, and "I've been a Totse member since XXXX, and therefore I am somehow better than you") which they somehow lost, or people who do it for no apparent reason other than the fact that they got tired of their old username.

The latter I tell to stick with one, lest whichever one I like the least get banned. It's in the forum rules, and the rule does have some merit, especially in terms of combating spammers. So I stick with it.
