hey i started messing with fireworks years ago and have made many mixtures such as smoke bombs and such and i think im ready for flash powder but when i was looking up the chemicals i could not come across a place where i could get potassium with out some sort of licence or for a reasonable price does anyone know where i can get this with the least ammount of hassle?

well to be honest im 15 but my dad is 51 and is helping me with buying and is insisting on adult supervision which is probably a good idea for my first batch, as for location i live in Washington

If your dad's in on this (GOOD THING!), you could order in from eBay. Also remember that fortune favors the bold, don't shy away from calling a couple of lab suppliers, tell 'em it's for a science project if needs be.

I haven't seen potassium perchlorate on Ebay. I've looked, and seen a bunch of those "Potassium Perchlorate Generator" things.

Ya actually mokothar I believe ebay doesn't allow it to be sold. Look around and you'll be able to find it. I don't know if where supposed to post sources here anymore so I wont, mods are we? There are a couple good ones but both of which do require you to be 18 or 21. Also in case you come across a place called united nuclear just don't bother ordering from them, it will take you about a month for them to ship it and they are way over priced, and there stuff isn't very good, but you don't have to be 18.

well the ideal place looked like firefox but the court case makes it tough i called them and got all the info on what the require for it but my dad doesnt want to get a licence. if there is a good supplier then id like to know but everywhere i can find it for a decent price has some regulations which makes it hard. and im not gunna pay 50 bucks for just a pound so is there anything i can do? or another project would be welcomed, i also looked at acetone peroxide but im worried about the danger of it.

Well firefox was one of those 2 places. You don't need a liscense unless you plan on getting over a pound which you don't need to get over a pound. Just don't order your Al from there also. Just figure out what that other supplier is and order the Al from them.

EDIT: Also I just looked at firefoxes website and they have those new restrictions, but you can still order Magnesium and magnalium 50% with chips without a license, that works out fine because you need more oxidizer than metal anyways. Anyone who hasn't seen that already might want to take a look.

Also make sure to add on all there extra fuel surcharges and legal tax which they mention down towards the bottom of there home page.

well you cant get anything from them over 100 mesh or something like that so is there any place that sells it for under like 50 bucks a pound? im not sure if im being repetitive or is there no fesible anwser to this question? otherwise im afraid to make anything else like acetone peroxide even though my dad would let me, but then again do you think i could handel it? or do i not have enough experience?

$50 a pound? Maybe the 0 isn't supposed to be there. Also AP and other high explosives are completely different from FP. They are not interchangeable at all and if you don't understand that you should not be making it. You can find perchlorate just keep looking.
