Come fall semester I'll be enrolled in a Pharmacy Technician program at a local college, and if all goes well from there, will be an intern at a community pharmacy (followed by, hopefully, a job).

I was wondering, does anyone here have experience in this line of work (and how did/do you like it? ) If so, what would you say the odds of successfully pinching a pill or two be? Keep in mind the chances of me actually going through with something like that is slim, as I value my future and job more than a buzz. I ask this out of sheer curiosity.

I remember a poster by the name of Hippie Lettuce mention having taken a shitload of pills, but only because his head pharmacist dude was a corrupt bastard. I'm not gonna hold me breath on that one.

Well.....I wish you luck. I've always thought it would be a cool line of work.....but the tendency to want to slip a few OCs here and then might find me out of work pretty quickly.

As to your Take-Home Goodies question, you're an attractive blond. I'm sure there will be at least one lonely guy in your class willing to risk his future to pinch you some pills.

Nah, I plan on just using this job as a means of funding my schooling (it pays decently well out here). I thought about pursuing a PharmD for a while, but as of now, I'm leaning towards no. I'd much rather get into a feild relating to either BioPsychology or psychotherapy. But if I were to become a harmacist, I'd definitely be working in research as opposed to a Walgreens. There's no way in Hell I'm paying to go to an expensive pharmacy school for 6 years, only to be what essentially is a manager.

As for the latter part -- I'm too decent of a person to do something like that.

I studied pharmacy for a while. Switched my degree though, because I know for a fact I would end up trying to swipe something.

His 'head pharmacist dude' wasn't the only corrupt bastard... he was banned for a reason...

I bet the only reason he was pissed was because his 'head pharmacist dude' came to the wrong conclusion on how he was stealing those pills.

I've also been interested in becoming a Pharmacist and trying out being a Pharmacy Tech first...but I came to the same conclusions as others, that I would lose my job from trying to steal.

I'm going to tell you, it's a BAD idea. It might be possible to get away with it at some point once you know the whole system well enough, but I know for a fact they count EVERY INDIVIDUAL pill...at least that's what my co-worker told me. And I never clarified if he meant HE does, or if they Head Pharmacist goes over it or what...but It's pretty strict I'm sure.
