Any blues guitarists out there?
Here's the guitarist in my band with a multi-track recorder and a shitty drum machine. Tell me what you think of him.

Your file's taking forever to load, so I answered your original question.

Re: Any blues guitarists out there?
It's good.
Not amazing, but defenitly good, and better than a lot of shit out there.
I don't know...the backing rhythm seemed a bit...empty...
Maybe throw some more instruments in there.
The solos were good, but not phenomenal.

Re: Any blues guitarists out there?
pretty good, but that song was very empty..
try getting him to jam to something more lively, like black magic woman or something. also the tone of his guitar doesn't really suit his voice, or the backing. that's just what i think though. other than that thumbs up.

Re: Any blues guitarists out there?
good, but id go for something a little more original, something that rips harder for what he lieks I guess, you know? We've all heard that jam a million times, branch out I guess.

Re: Any blues guitarists out there?
Yeah I agree about the emptiness around the verses. That was the first thing I said to him when I heard it. He replied that it's an old blues song, and he wanted to keep it at least vaguely faithful to the original style. Obviously the Lightning Hopkins version was even emptier. I guess the point would be to create a beautiful, authentic all-round sound, but all hope of that is kind of dashed by the tacky drum machine and lack of proper recording equipment (and the fact that it's the first and only take :P). As for branching out - that's not the only song he can play lol. It's not going on any albums or even in live sets, it's just a jam of an old blues song. Most blues musicians tend to avoid black magic woman like the plague, because it's one of those songs that everyone's heard a cover of a million times. Not as bad as Johnny B. Goode, but you know, getting there.
I think I responded to everyone... Thanks for the comments, keep that shit coming.
