Getting through 2 inches of steel.
Obviously drilling through the safe combo lock doesn't shatter the pins automatically opening the safe. SWIM hasn't acquired the exact specifications to the safe in question but there's a 75% chance that it will be electronically locked and have a digital keypad/display.
There's a 100% chance that the safe will be a minimum of 2 inches of steel. Now he knows a plasma cutter could easily get the job done but they aren't found in any hardware store and the prices hover around 3k.
Could any tool expert suggest a saw/torch/cutting tool that could be concealed reasonably (in a gym/duffel bag) ?

He better not.
Will...
- Be very loud
- Damage the contents of the safe, possibly.

Re: Getting through 2 inches of steel.
If a plasma cutter is out of your price range, just go steal one from a automotive shop.

Just steal whatever tool you need. If your doing a safe job, walking into an auto store with a mask and gun isn't too much of a stretch.

Re: Getting through 2 inches of steel.
Ok. SWIM's aquired the plans for temporary use of a plasma cutter. The concealment problem is no longer an issue. SWIM will post results.

Re: Getting through 2 inches of steel.
I'm seconding the notion of shaped charges. Positioned correctly (around the outside of one edge) you can theoretically take a whole face of the safe off without much risk of harming the contents. Depends what the contents are, really.
Paper money? Might get a little crispy, but it's doable. Gold or something? Easy.
Now making the shaped charge and getting the power level right... That's the tricky bit.
