wrong. slum village's last 2 albums (without baatin and dilla) were their best. and those youtube vids were all wack.

sway is a british, autmatically making him unlistenable, and his beats are no better than american crunk/dirty south beats. antipop consortium are just wack back pack rappers.

Meh, a lot of people say that...I think Fantastic vol 1 & 2 are underrated. Rapping is weaker (a lot of it obviously freestyled on vol 1) but I love the minimal soulful beats, that early Dilla style. Not to diss Detroit Deli or the s/t, some solid tracks there for sure and Elzhi is way better than Baatin, I just listen to the early shit a lot more. I didn't feel Trinity though.
Surprised you didn't dig that young Jay-Z clip. And yeah, not the best Coup track, I posted that for the OP cause Boots raps about the same radical leftist shit as IT except he can actually flow.
Kalbata's remix of Sweet Talk from the 12" is a lot better.

well i personally cant stand dilla's minimal stuff like you described, he produced some nice stuff for a tribe and de la in 95 and 96 but i dont really like much of his stuff between then and 2004. then he started making some crazy layered out of this world shit.
and im just not a fan of jay z at all. all i can really tolerate is reasonable doubt thanks to premier and ski, 9th wonder and kev brown's remixes of the black album, and of course http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvOkYEM2Lg8

Re: Reccomend me some rap
all the good shit is on blogs. some private torrent sites have some decent shit but half the time it wont even have seeders. soulseek is always good for finding stuff but i find it too slow and unreliable (only one person may have an album you're looking for, and halfway through downloading the first song the person disconnects and never gets on soulseek again, shit like that).
so yeah, blogs are the way to go. i'd post links (to said blogs, not downloads) but sambob would edit them out of my post.
forgot: http://www.albumbase.com/
you have to sign up though. it's free and takes 5 minutes. after you finish signing up there may be some bullshit saying you need to sign up for some contest to win a phone or ipod or xbox360 to finish your registration (thats what happened to me) but thats bullshit, you can just sign in from there. also i say you have to register because other wise if you click on any download link it just takes you to the itunes store.
but album base has direct download links (rapidshare/megaupload etc.) to all kinds of great albums, underground and mainstream, of all genres.

-Common
-Dangerdoom (Duo: MF Doom & Danger Mouse)
-The Fugees
-NaS (just the Illmatic album)
-Murs
-NWA
-The Perceptionists (Duo: Mr. Lif & Akrobatik)
-The Roots
-Wu-Tang Clan (only 36 Chambers and Forever, the rest of their albums suck. the solo ones though that branched from the rap supergroup are good too.)

Re: Reccomend me some rap
Andre Nickatina is an American underground hardcore rapper from San Francisco, California who has been an active participant in the underground hip hop scene since the early 1990s.
Andre Nickatina first appeared on the Bay Area rap scene in 1993 under the name Dre Dog as a member of the group I.M.P. (Ill Mannered Posse). Shortly after the release of I.M.P's Back in the Days, Nickatina released The New Jim Jones, a solo album, still under the "Dre Dog" moniker. Raven in My Eyes was the first album that he released under the name Andre Nickatina. He has since released nine solo albums, an amateur film, and several albums with fellow local rapper, Equipto. He also contributed significantly to the film and soundtrack for the 2005 documentary, The Gift.
Nickatina heads his own record label, Fillmoe Coleman Records. In 2005, he was nominated for Underground Album of the Year (2004's Bullets, Blunts In Ah Big Bankroll) and won an award as Underground Artist of the Year at the Bay Area Hip Hop Awards.[1] Although quite reclusive, he is considered to be one of the among the all-time greats of the Bay Area Hip-Hop scene.
Andre Nickatina is the tightest rapper in the bay. His cocaine style is reminiscent of the eighties

It's 50/50 with that album. The half that is good though, are really good songs. I say just download the Forever album then remove all the crap in it.
