Now, I would be considered a fairly good cook. My wife is also a good cook. For the life of us neither of us can get a hard boiled egg to friggin' cook right.
We cook them properly mind you. We can just never get the shell to come off cleanly. How in the world do the rest of you do it? Do you have the same bloody problem?
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??!?!?!?!???!?!?!?!
I love hard boiled eggs and deviled eggs but when you screw them up like I do deviled eggs would never look appetizing.

Ummm... do you drop them in icewater to cool them after cooking? I thought that was supposed to make the inner membrane pull away from the shell. How do you peel them? I always start at the air bubble and make a line down one side. Usually comes off in one or two pieces after that.
Thanks... now I have to go make some...

I peel them under a cold tap - my fingertips remain unburnt and it tend to come off fairly cleanly. Make sure they're really hard boiled - if I boil them for 10 minutes, the shell comes off really easily.
Just smack it on the counter until the shell is all broken up and kinda scrape off. How the hell are you trying to do it?

Run them under cold water and hit them against the counter. You should just be able to pull that whole membrane off with the shell attached.

Re: Hard Boiled Eggs
Easiest way to do it, crack it on the counter first then roll the egg between your hands back and forth breaking it into pieces, it will then peel off hella easy.
Yeah, treat them like babies.
You smash the top bit against a wall or counter, then take a knife to one bit to get a good starting point and then rip the whole lot off. It's reccomended to do this under a cold water tap to get rid of the blood. . shells.
