Was just my birthday yesterday so aside from the usual dinner festivities, I always opt out of the cake BS and get myself some of this awesome dessert.

Anyone else here like Tiramisu? Seriously, I could eat this stuff until I become physically sick, and I can't quite understand why, aside from the fact that it's incredible.

Anyone make it at home/got any recipes to share? I've done so a few times here and there using simple recipes, but it definitely leaves something desired.

i used to love things like tiramisu, but i'm going off all that. going back to good ole rice pudding and crumbles

regardless, some tips for tiramisu:

use the best quality coffee you can find.
use the best quality mascarpone you can find.
use grated chocolate on top, not cocoa.
don't put gelatine into it.

because tiramisu has so few ingredients, you need to make them the best quality. it really makes it stand out. also, you can try experimenting with the liqueur. i like Kahlua.

My wife got me a Tiramisu cake for my first birthday after marriage. The lady at the local bakery has been making it since the last 30 years and she is so highly sought, that she travels across the country and makes cakes in various states, before returning to home town. The only caveat is that her cakes costs $75/quarter sheet... so we spent a fortune, but the cake was sinfully good tasting.
