Cheap RAM vs. Expensive RAM.
I found this article that says there is really not much of a difference between cheap and expensive RAM. It seems pretty solid, your thoughts on it?

Re: Cheap RAM vs. Expensive RAM.
An old article, but pretty true. As they said at the end, it all depends on whether you overclock ore not. I would never buy cheap value RAM for any of my rigs, but I would recommend cheap value RAM to someone building a computer, who doesn't plan to OC it. However, the thing to look for in RAM for OCing, is the type of chips they use. Right now, Micron D9's are the hot shit.

Re: Cheap RAM vs. Expensive RAM.
Interesting article. Whenever I add more RAM to someone's machine which I know is going to stay at stock speeds, I always use budget RAM and I've never had any problems.
I have to say, some budget RAM will happily overclock but some just won't have it. It depends on what chips your RAM has.
I've found that some budget RAM doesn't like high temps, even at stock speeds. I used to have Ebuyer's budget laptop DDR sticks in my Dell, but I went through three sets in the space of a month. The RAM would last longer if I didn't type in bed, so I guess it was the heat that killed it. When I bought some Samsung stuff, it worked fine no matter how hot it got.

Re: Cheap RAM vs. Expensive RAM.
You can get Micron D9GMH ICs for less that $100 for 2 x 1GB. That's cheap AND pretty high end for DDR2.... Or you can get cheap stuff for $70. That $30 will let you clock your RAM an extra 20-30% higher. You decide if it's worth it.

Yeah really. I just looked at RAM prices, and they sure have tanked since the last time I bought RAM. My OCZ RAM is almost 1/3rd the price I paid for it right now.

Re: Cheap RAM vs. Expensive RAM.
I haven't read the article, but it's basically as simple as:
If you don't know the difference, buy the cheap RAM.
