Re: Prehistoric animal thread
There is much more to prehistoric animals than the ones dominating the Mesozoic Era. There's the whole pre-Triassic, and before that the whole Pre-Cambrian era where the most basics of life-forms dominated the planet.
Dinosaurs are pretty nifty though. There's the five animal kingdoms of today, the fish, the reptiles, the birds, the mammals, and the amphibians. Dinosaurs can also be given their own animal kingdom. Over time, they gradually changed into birds though. Since the evidence of dinosaurs were birds' ancestors, it can be logically concluded that dinosaurs were warm-blooded, but the lot of you should know that (I hope).
Quite interesting animals.
The bird theory came around late 80's early 90's if I remember my sources correct.

Re: Prehistoric animal thread
I wish woolly mammoths and woolly rhinoceroses still lived in cold climates. Hell of a lot more interesting than caribou, polar bears, and seals.

^^^You wouldn't exactly be feeling the wind through your hair though.
Now what I want to have is a Diprotodon - It's pretty much like a giant wombat! Imagine riding one of those down the street. How awesome would that be?

Biggest marsupial ever found, too.
