We've seen now how this function can be abused.
And will continue to be abused.

I was looking through a 'post screenshots of your rep' thread, and I'm seing alot of unpleasant images in some peoples rep,
A random example (http://i15.tinypic.com/52fv878.png).

I'm not too bothered on a personal level, but I know this could distress alot of posters, and that does bother me.

The same things that are posted in forums that we're here to moderate could be posted in the rep area.

Except script now, I think? Good job on that.

I dont see how an argument could errupt out of this thread, unless I got very drunk on cheap Dovgan and started brawling with the other mods.

I think [img] tags should be disabled in rep comments for that reason, but we shouldn't be allowed to moderate them (c'mon, yoyo, that's just silly). People shouldn't be stopped from linking people to horrible things, but the recipient should be spared having to look at them.

I dont give a toss about rude comments or horrible insults, that's part of totse.
What I DO care about it harmfull links,kiddie porn that could be posted there, and private information of other posters!
Which is what we're here to prevent.

Maybe the super-mods are able to do something about that already? I don't think there's anything we could do anyway unless a user complained, and then it would go straight to AM, MLoR, Zok or Jeff. I don't like the idea of normal mods being able to access anybody's rep comments, seems a bit invasion-of-privacyish to me.

Yeah I agree that it would be really bad to be able to edit the rep comments or anything silly like that.
But it would be good if there was an option to delete individual rep comments, just in case anyone posted anything really harmfull or ect
As for the invation of privacy bit...well..
It's not as though we could do anything about what we saw unless it was something to be removed-

if you took the action of deleting a rep comment due to it being harmfull link/private info/ect
meant you had to fill out the same sort of form you do when infracting someone with something that results in an instant ban-
which I assume Jeff or whoever looks through, so there could be no abuse of powers.


I dont see how being able to view a posters rep would be any more privacy invading than being able to see posts they've deleted or threads that have been deleted?

I really dont want this thread to discend into flaming as it what sometimes happen when I slip up and say something stupid. I make it clear I'm not bitching.



But an example, someone has been posting pictures of dead babies in S&A. Very normal totse experience, but there's one girl who's particularly upset for certain reasons there now, and I can imagine that if some sick fuck wanted to mess with her they could simply flood her rep comments with the horrible image, which would no doubt effect her really badly.
Course, she was dumb for letting on that the pictures upset her, but I still feel we're here in part to protect the posters.

All we can/could do is look at other people's rep comments; we can't edit them. We're about as powerless as you guys.
