Default not possible to swap laptop drives??

i have hp omnibook xe4500 notebooks

1 had a hardrive that contained my data for work. But is unable to be used because of a loose power connecter inside.

I was given an identicle laptop to restore my data.

I swapped MY work drive into the new laptop, but the OLD data from the laptop given to me is still present, the old admin account etc..

How can I restore the contents of my drive on the newer laptop?

wow ok, so now Im posting from a laptop with no physical hard drive, It is sitting next to the computer..there must be a reserve hard drive on this laptop...

I'll check the boot sequence to see where it's bootingfrom, but this must be the reason that its reading this partition over my work hard drive

Let me get this straight, you want to access the files on your work hard drive, right?

I know I'm illiterate when it comes to computers but I would try an external hard drive enclosure...

I dont understand wtf is going on here. Explain yourself because it sounds like you have absolutely no clue as to what a hard drive even is.

i've never even heard of this problem..

To clarify:

I have

-A working laptop (same model as old broken one)
-The hard drive from c'est laptop

Problem is:

The working laptop doesn't have a hard drive in it, but the laptop is reading some windows partition....

I cant get my work hard drive to read, the working laptop is taking some other hard drive priority...

Ok, the primary language in this board is English, not French. According to babelfish, "c'est" is the same thing as the Japanese "desu", which is irrelevant, so I have no clue as to why you would use it.

I assume you mean "dead".

So:

1: Remove the known hard drive.
2: Boot up.

If you dont get a "Boot device not found"-type error, you have another hard drive somewhere in it.

If this is true, pop in the drive out of the broken laptop and go into the BIOS menu and change the boot order to the other drive.

im english, we use french intermingled especially in Nova Scotia, seeing how it's part acadian...

So I apologize for people who cannot understand...

...

As for my issue, it was resolved, there was a SECOND hard drive in my laptop, I never even knew this existed in laptops...

What an awesome idea. Ever looked at tadpole notebooks? They do SPARCbooks, but they're expensive as hell. Tens of thousands for some.
