I got on birth control a little over two months ago. I'm taking the pills, no patch or shot. I noticed my appetite went up alot..and i've heard that's normal for the first few months until my body adjusts to it. But i've also been getting constant random hot flashes.. they're irritating. Is it another symptom that will end up going away after a while..has anyone else experienced this too? I don't know if I should switch birth controls, i've gotten that as a suggestion. I'll eventually tell my doctor about it, but I want to her if anyone else has had this as a problem with birth control.

I had the hot flashes, but not the increased appetite. I hate to tell you this, but in my case the hot flashes have never gone away.

i'm on yasmin, which is a really low dosage type of birth control. i haven't had any side effects from it, kind of wish i could blame an increased appetite on the pill, but i think that was there beforehand .

definitely see a doctor if you have side effects you don't like, there are heaps of different types of birth control pills, with different dosages. most of my friends had to switch at least once before they found one that worked for them.

When I took ortho-low, I got increased appetite, severe mood swings, terrible cramps, and minor hot flashes. I stopped soon after because the side effects were too much for me to handle. What really did it was the mood swings; I hated feeling like a raging bitch for no reason certain parts of the cycle.
Anyway, I'm on the nuva ring now, and the only, let me reiderate: ONLY, side effect I've had was massive breast growth. It still hasn't stopped and I've grown a cup and a half. Now that can be bad or good depending on how you look at it, but considering all possible side effects, it's a pretty mild one from how I see it.

first time i went on bc the only thing that happened was i went up nearly two cup sizes, came off for four months and went back on, everything's fine for the first cycle of pills, then boof! i'm getting hot flushes, gain weight all over the typical pregnancy areas(despite no increase in appetite) and some wicked mood swings. it's calming down, four months on, still, s'lame.
i'm on microgynon 30, and they just keep putting me on it everytime i go to get more. it's like the standard pill to start on in the uk

Actually, I haven't taken the pill for over 7 years! Back when I did take it I was on desogen.
