Default I feel like shit

Yesterday was a rough day for me. Two months ago, I had told my boyfriend of a year and a half that we needed a break. He had said he didn't want to go to my senior prom with me, so I found another date. I had felt somewhat attracted to this guy for a couple weeks before, but I didn't think we would start dating, as we have.

I thought I had forgotten about my long term boyfriend, but when he showed up at my graduation party, he had made himself up to be what I always complained he wasn't - he was shaved, had gotten a haircut, he had bought a new shirt at the mall, and his appearance was nice. I had always yelled at him for those things.

Its not just the little things that got me though, it was the fact that I don't like his dad. His parents are very controlling, more so from the dad. The dad basically decided what college his son was going to by telling him that he would only pay for it if he went to a certain one. The dad always seems to steal his son for dinner and a movie on my days off, and I think by hanging out with his father my ex has inherited some of those manipulative traits. During all of the fights we had, he turned everything into my fault. Some of it was, I won't lie, but not everything. Basically the dad made it hard to stay in love with him. The other major thing that put a damper on the relationship was the sex. He didn't know what he was doing and since it didn't come naturally to him (everything else does, school wise) he started giving up on trying to please me.

So, with that said, I went out for icecream with my ex just to talk about things. We ended up mad at eachother because we confessed things that we had done (he had smoked weed behind my back and I had done things with the other guy) I ended up breaking his heart, thinking that maybe it was time to move on, but now I feel guilty and I stayed up all last night wondering if I had made the right decision.

Through all of the pain that he had put me through, why do I still feel this way? What should I do?

I don;t think it's fair for you to be involved with this other guy while you're still not over your ex.

In my mind the right thing to do is to stand on your own for a while and (heaven forbid) be single.

FYI, it's not very nice to hassle a guy to change his appearance. if girls don't want to put up with my amish sideburns and puberty stache they can gtfoMad

That's a tough call... If he didn't care about you, he probably would not have changed so quickly to please you...

But then again, there are a ton of aspects to look at here, along with your own personal feelings.

Ok my bad for thinking that girls can be in the same situations that guys put themselves into most of the time. Here you are, complaining about how your girlfriend doesn't shave her cooch or armpit hair. Isn't that complaining about appearance? Fucking hipocrites... I don't want to go out somewhere with someone looking like the cave men on those fucking commericals. If you can't grow a full beard, shave off the patchy ass stuble.

And what the hell does dick-downed mean? I don't do slang so please talk modern english for me.

Ain't Karma a bitch? What we have here is another "confused" female playing whatever mind games (consciously or unconsciously) and now that the chips have fallen the way they have you aren't comfortable with the results. Boo fuckin hoo.

The reason you feel the way you do now is because after wasting all the time he did with you, he cut ties and is living a perfectly fulfilling life WITHOUT you. And that bothers you. If he was in some kind of dark depression or suicidal it would give you the message of "damn my shit is so good, look how horrible his life is without me". Instead he is going on his merry way without any regrets, and now you are looking inwards at why he isn't an emotional wreck after the break up.

Face it...you were NOT compatible with this guy in any way shape or form. The fact you didn't like his hygiene, choice of clothes, marijuana use, family etc.....just proves you had no business being with him. Move on, get over it, and the make sure the next guy you choose actually has something in common with you. Instead of trying to change your men to people that you want them to be, get with someone that fits your ideals from the get go.

You wanna stop feeling guilty? Alright then, listen to this. Right now, as you read this very post he is either:

a) getting high, having the time of his life
b) wanking/with another girl

No need to feel guilty, he's happy as can be now that your cheating-ass is out of his otherwise fruitful and fulfilling life.

i hate quoting Friends, but, THEY WERE ON A BREAK.

my opinion:
if he's manipulative and you think things aren't going to change, it's probably not worth going back to the relationships. yes, problems should be worked through when possible, but at this age parents play a big role in people's lives and if his father is controlling and that's messing up the relationship, and he's not willing to try and make changes THAT WILL LAST, then going back to him will mean that you'll be unhappy. also, what's with him giving up on pleasuring you?

i'm not saying to stay with the new guy, it might have been a bit fast to be jumping into a new relationship, but it could work. perhaps a bit of alone time is a good idea. one of my girl friends hasn't been single for longer than a month since she was 13 (we're 19 now).

Oh leave your ex alone. Dont make it worse by spiraling him in and out of thinking he has a chance. Just leave it be. From what Ive heard you have lots of trouble being happy with each other. He will move on...that is if you let him. The more you keep going back to him thinking that maybe you made the wrong decision the more its going to fuck with him.

And also what makes you think that you have to be with someone else as soon as you break up? You can have a rest from the relationship thing you know.Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Thank you, No Skills, I don't think I was cheating either because we were on a break and he said he didn't want to go to prom with me. What was I supposed to do, beg him? If he wasn't going to go with me then fuck it I am going to find someone else... and I did....

E-digger, I didn't intend to get into another relationship as soon as I did. I thought I was going to have some time to myself, although it didn't end up that way. The new guy however is gone for six weeks of the summer at governors school, so it will give me some time to myself.

However, the reason I keep going back to him is because he and his father rope me into feeling guilty for him. They have that manipulate skill of making you feel bad when you don't text back, don't call back, don't want to hang out, etc. I just think it is so unhealthy for me but at the same time I keep running back.
