My job!!
So I have a part time job now babysitting for two little boys. I'm going to make between $500-$800 per month and I plan to save all of that money for my daughter...For her orthodontic work and for college. Unfortunately she has VERY crowded teeth like I did and I know my parents had to spend like $20,000 on my smile.:( I'm pretty psyched, because I had been worried about how we were going to contribute to the IRA and the college fund and the teeth...
The only thing that sucks is they are 8 month old TWINS, so that's going to be tough.:P My daughter loves babies, though, so I'm sure she'll be a big help.

Re: My job!!
Why dont you just sell the babies? If they're in good health you should be able to get 10k each, even at a discount.
Boom, problem solved.

Re: My job!!
hey xaio, don't think about what he (^) just said, i don't want you getting sad on a day you should be happy! im glad you found something that makes you feel like you are contributing even more than you already have. i could tell from your posts since your daughter started school that you have been looking for something to make you feel 'useful' again, and it looks like you have found it! my aunt babysat a bunch of kids until her 60s - she made a career out of being a mom, i think you could do that and be really great at it as well. good luck with everything!

Re: My job!!
It often works cheaper to get dental work abroad. I know you're not in europe, but I, for example, had a lot of major brace work etc done in Spain privately.. it was cheap by most standards, effective, and very well done.
My friend's dad has found that it works out cheaper INCLUDING flight and lodgings to go to Poland for major private dental work.
I know how much of a bugger it all is.. my teeth were fucked and desperately needed correction.
Good luck with the job and everything, it sounds like quite a sweet job, I've done lots of babysitting work too.

I thought that military families had excellent insurance.
And good luck with the new job. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, even when you aren't enjoying it.

I hope you're not working full time hours... that'd be slave labour.

Re: My job!!
That sucks, I work in a phone shop part time and drive around for a family owned restaurant at nights and make on average $600 a WEEK ($15 an hour at the phone shop, plus comissions, and $15 an hour TAX FREE at the restaurant, drving someone elses car) and I'm at University full time. I also live with parents so I have no expenses. Reading this really puts the value of money into perspective, I drink way too much and my money just seems to grow by 1-200 a week, which is not alot considering how much I make :(

Hell no, I'd hurl myself out of the window in desperation if I spent so much time there!
It's not physically or mentally demanding, but it's the epitome of tedium and dead-end-job-ness.

Re: My job!!
looking after kids shouldn't be called babysitting it should be called "substitute mothering" or submother for short.
800us (about 950 canadian) isn't much. Works out to just above minimum wage probly. You'd make a lot more selling drugs or secretaring or something.

Rent the boys out to a bunch of Catholic priets. Let's say around 100 bucks a boy, you could be making thousands each week.
Foolproof!

That's about what I earn a month at the moment. But then I'm only working around 14 hours a week.
Any job is a good start, today babysitting, tomorrow the president!
..I mean being the president, not doing or babysitting the president, allthough I'm sure both would be very well paid lucrative jobs.

...but how can you live? I earn between £750 and £900 per month, depending on how reliable I decide to be, and I struggle to pay rent and keep the fridge full.

Re: My job!!
Well I watched the kids for the last 3 days and it went pretty well. They are very well behaved babies and so cute! One of them is very affectionate and wants me to hold him all of the time. The other one is more adventurous, but he cries for his mother more.:(
It's amazing how time consuming a couple of babies are...I don't know how people who just have a bunch of kids of their own can manage everything!

Re: My job!!
You should be fine. They sound like me and my twin bro (Star Wars Nerd) when we were young. You are lucky to get good ones, most twins suck dick when they are babies cuz they cry a lot, specially when they are separated. If you need any twin advice just ask.
