Zombie Threads
Couldn't think of what to call them, but yes:
Some threads can't be opened, when you click the link it forces the browser to try and download the openthread PHP script.
Is this infraction worthy under defacing/damaging Totse.com?
Just giving you the heads up.

Any screen names to keep an eye out for who do this?

Re: Zombie Threads
I've infracted Dave Chapeele for each of his zombie posts in S&A. So he's auto-banned.
BTW You can delete zombie posts by post number substitution . Don't know if that works on zombie threads yet though.
Go to the post and copy the number at the end of the url. Then go to a post in the same thread and click on edit. Substitute its post number in the url for the one you want deleted and click go to.
That brings up the edit page for the post you want to delete etc etc

Re: Zombie Threads
Is this a 'zombie' thread also:
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2015843
Thing is it's not by a poster who does the scripting thing and it's got a reply.. so perhaps it's my computer being glitchy?
Anway, if click on a thread that comes up with blank, there's a little check box to the right of every thread in a forum so can select to delete from there..

Thanks. :)
Jackketch are you using firefox or internet explorer?
Firefox just blocks stuff like whatever that script was trying to do, but IE just crashes and runs off to cry in a corner.

Re: Zombie Threads
An update.
I was on IRC with MLoR helping as much as I could last night.
MLoR wasn't swinging the BanHammer...He was throwing the fucker...And he's got a good aim.
Several spammers are down, but they keep making new accounts...
A lot of people on #hb IRC were plotting and it's slpctrl that has the cache of scripts (as far as I can tell).
Yes it's the reason why Totse was down last night, and MLoR wants the names of anyone who does it so he can ban them.

Do what I said. Here for the 'what are you listening to' sticky.http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?p=8442092#post8442092
Open the thread and find a post that isn't valuable. Click 'edit' . Delete the post number in the URL bar and substitute the number 8442092. Click 'go'. That'll bring up the edit page for Dave Chapelle's post.

Re: Zombie Threads
What's worring me is that some of these zombie threads are disguised.
And some of them have a few posts in. How are people doing that
Again with this thread in OI, it looks like an average thread
http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2014954
Both IE and firefox refuse to look at that page so I'll assume it's another zombie thread. And if someone has been fucking with my baby forum god help them.

I'm sorry to be dense but that's absolute gibberish to me.
I understand the words post number substitution, but when they're merged together like that they..mean nothing to me.
And how can I go into the thread to edit it if I cant get into it in the first place?!?

Re: Zombie Threads
ok if its the 'Review' sticky then just open the thread on the first page (only the last is blanked).
Pick a post NOT THE FIRST ONE in the thread but any other.
Click the edit button
At the top of the page is the address.
It'll look like this http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?p=8442120#post8442120
delete whatever number is at the end and add in the number 8442120.
Click 'goto'
That'll bring up the edit/delete page for DAve Chapelle's post. Once you delete it the thread will return to normal.

Re: Zombie Threads
The thread is in OI. It's called '$30 bottle of liquor'.
I've put the fucking scripter (intolerance) on my ignore list so I can read the thread.
.. I'm still trying to work through the rest of your instrutcions
Edit, I mean, where did you get the number 8442120 from? I see no such number.
And isnt doing that just going to edit another posters post?

Ah!
For those of you too non l33t to follow jackketchs sound advice, simply go to the offending persons profile
Select to find all their posts,
then delete the offending post by scrolling through all of their latest posts.
Jackketch, could you infract the poster 'intolerance' for me in OI please? Thanks to his shit that's taken me an hour and all of my temper, I've just missed a very important CounterStrike game I should have been participating in.

For the record, that's probably a lot of FourMulattoes clones.
As far as I know, SlpCtrl didn't actually post the exploit, he just discovered it. His mistake was sharing it with FourMulattoes.

Yes, slpctrl has pointed this out himself and apologized for his mistake of telling 4m about this exploit.
I was overrun with this 'event' when I got back last night.

Re: Zombie Threads
As far as I know, SlpCtrl didn't actually post the exploit, he just discovered it. His mistake was sharing it with FourMulattoes.
I searched SlpCtrl's posts after hearing the story and he'd posted the script maybe 15 times. I banned him along with the rest. I also really doubt anybody would confuse FourMulattoes with a mod, I personally think SlpCtrl knew exactly what he was doing and just used that story as a cover; anybody who even vaguely knows 4m knows that he'd spread the script. I might be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if he hadn't used the script so many times himself.
The users in SG were super-helpful in helping me track down the posters. It still took the best part of an hour to find them all, delete all their recent posts and ban them though
