Default Guy opinion about hair and clothes

I don't know if you guys know this, but military officer's wives are pretty much required to hang out with the wives of all the other officers. We do bake sales and christmas fundraisers and stuff like that.(seriously)

Anyway, I was having coffee with 3 other wives and they all started talking about fashion. THEN they all started talking about ME and how I dressed frumpy and my hair is boring. What they object to is that I always wear "frumpy" indian print dresses that apparantly make me look fat and that my hair is just...Long. Now it's true that I don't take great pains with my hair, but It's not like I just don't do anything with it! I mean it IS pretty long...It reaches to about the middle of my butt and I usually wear it in two braids or in a bun. I can't really wear it down, because it's extremely hot outside and my hair is really fine and gets tangled very fast.

These women all think I should cut my hair and wear pants.:( They claim that my husband is going to get really bored with my appearance and that I'm setting a bad example for my daughter. To be honest, I never really gave it that much thought before, but now I'm all worried that my appearance really DOES suck! Do you guys think long hair and dresses are boring and frumpy?

I guess I should ask...does it matter to you if your husband is bored/getting bored with your appearance? If he isn't bored/getting bored, and you're fine with the way you look, then I wouldn't change anything. If he is bored, and you don't like the way you look, then perhaps a change is in order.

In my opinion, when you're married to someone, you accept them for them. So it really shouldn't matter what they wear or look like...to an extent of course. I think it just boils down to how you honestly feel about yourself, and just how much other people's ( + hubby's) opinions matter to you.

But to direct answer your question, I love long hair. Dresses are fine, but when they're worn all the time, it can get a tad boring.

Well as far as your daughter theres no point in sexing up for her, roflmao, these wives sound like a bunch of dumb bitches. But for your husbands penis you might want to dress up some times.

I think you need to NOT hang out with these women.

I mean sure, if you were fat or frumpy, then yeah, their honesty would be appreciated.

But criticising you for what you wear or how long your hair is?

Fuck them Mad

And be carefull. If they think your husband might get 'bored' of you, I'm sure they'll be the ones to try and make him so!

It'd be cool if you lived near me. I'd help you dye your long hair raven black with pink stripes and get you wearing lacey long sweeping black dresses and very.very high heeled boots. That would be so hot..

There is a forum on totse about fashion. True story.

What sort of dresses? What sort of long hair?

You can't make judgements and recommendations on fashion and style, a completely visual art, without pictures or excellent descriptions.

Well they are long and...Flowy with pictures of flowers and animals on them. I have short sleeved ones for summer and heavier ones for winter. My hair is fine, but pretty thick and it's straight and dark auborn colored. Sometimes I take off all of my clothes and cover my naughty parts with my hair, like in "The Birth of Venus.":P

I can't believe they would start insulting you like that, to your face?! Jeez I would have slapped them or something! Reminds me of like wags or something, and they are just trying to make you look just like them. If I were you I'd forget about them, better off without! And if you are happy with your appearance than who cares! You should just wear whatever makes you feel good. If your husband was bored or whatever then wouldn't he have said something or atleast insinuated(sp?) it. Maybe ask him, but regardless he should love you for who you are, not what you wear.

Sure there is a fashion forum.....but since this is S & A dealing with human relationships and sex (which is what the poster was asking about) it's pretty obvious this thread is more appropriate here. TRUE COMMON SENSE!

Xaio, I agree with everyone that says fuck those wenches. They are completely clueless about infidelity. What they are actually doing is putting the responsibility and accountability of the infidelity back on the woman that has been cheated upon. In their feeble minds, guys wouldn't cheat if their woman was 10 pounds lighter, wore skimpier clothes, and sucked his cock 5 more minutes daily. Anyone with half a brain knows that is a completely erroneous mindset on infidelity. Cheaters will cheat, no matter what their circumstances.....and it NEVER has to do with outside superficial appearances.

As far as I'm concerned what you described wearing sounds very hot and sexy to me. Don't let the nosey yentas get inside your head, they are the ones with the problems.....not you.

What you described as your wardrobe is boring. But it might not matter to your husband that much. And if it bothers you, then change it; if it doesn't, then don't. That's my .02.

What a load of spiteful bitches. That is just awful. You wear what you want Xiao, they can go and cook in Whistles or whatever they're wearing.

Could you tell us more about the life of military wives?

Short hair and trousers on women are more likely to look frumpy than long hair and dresses. It's really hard to tell without some kind of illustration, though, maybe dig up some pictures on Google image search of the kind of dresses you wear? From what you've said on here about your clothes and appearance I've always got the complete opposite impression to what the officers' wives seem to say. Remember, women like that are often bitchy and like to take out their own insecurities on other people by being spiteful.

Go and try new things, you might make yourself feel a lot better. If you think you feel fine now, how the hell do you know if you haven't changed in a long time? Try it, why the hell not.

Heh, it's only gotten really bad in the past 4 years...Ever since he became an officer. No one cares what the enlisted folks are up to.

My husband says he likes the way I dress...It just bothers me to think of those women all judging me like that...And I wondered if they might be right! They do all dress nicer than me, but they are all older than I am, so I figured that was why. I'm the youngest out of them by like 10 years because they are all doctor's wives.

And wires: What do you want to know about being a military spouse? The main thing I can think of is that everyone expects you to hang out with everyone else all of the time. Like my neighbors all think I'm a huge bitch, because I don't really make an effort to get to know them. Also everyone is REALLY nosy...I mean like stalker nosy! And everyone who lives on base constantly complaines about their house, even though the houses are actually pretty nice. Like my house is a 3 bedroom townhome with hardwood floors, walk-in closets and big windows. The surrounding neighborhood has all of these nature trails and there are lots of playgrounds around. The only objection I have is that the yards are pretty small. My husband also has to work a LOT, which is pretty standard in his field.

Are you far from shops and stuff? What about friends from outside the base coming in? I find it very interesting, it sounds like a whole different subculture.

And by the way, what are these other wives dressing like?

My sense for women's fashion stopped about the same time Moses led the jews outta the desert. Women should wear ankle length dresses/skirts and have hair long enough to cover their 'naughty bits' (ewwww lets call a cunny a cunny , shall we?).

So you sound fine to me. Ignore the other wives. Think up some good come-backs along the lines of your husband likes his women like his cars...plain out front and a v12 underneath...and how much do they spend at Victoria's Secret and Anne Summers?

My post will probably get ignored but meh.

Basically I'm betting that these women are quite insecure, and if you say that they're doctor's wives, then most likely they're worried that if they don't dress like a Queen, their husbands will leave them (considering they probably have enough money).

Also it's a big difference if they're more financially wealthy, with them being older.

Don't take it to heart, dress how you want, be free, and don't become a black sheep, and insecure like the women you're describing.

Are your dresses square if your hold them up? or do they have a shape to them? The kind of shape that would touch on a person's figure.

From what I read, it sounds like you dress quite cutely and in a homey way. :)

Yes, your hair sounds boring. Considering how old you are, you aren't dressing it. How old is your husband? Seems like you are content living life as his wife and as a punching bag to these other women. If you want to fit in, take their advice, if you don't, well that should be obvious.

Change isn't bad though, and I am sure with hair to your ass, it is time for a make-over from your plain and boring look.

And I don't really "hang out" with those women per se. I do bake sales and stuff with them and sometimes we all get together for coffee to discuss our latest project.

It's not so much that I want to fit in...But no one wants to be unattractive./shrug

I bet they envy you and thus want to hurt you/your relationship to make themselves feel better about themselves.

Personally I find hair that long quite sexy, and you don't see lots of girls with that sort of hair often.
